When you start out with your first garage band you have to overcome all kinds of difficulties

But it IS quite amazing what's happening out there. Kids like these playing this kind of music... How come?
It really seems to be a grassroots movement. There's no big act which they might follow, and no Greg Shaw to organize it either. Just a Nike commercial with the Seeds...

No, but seriously: recently I talked to two guys playing crude old time-y folk on the street. I approached them because I also play in a jug band. Turns out each of them also plays in a garage band, meaning in two garage bands. Guys in their mid-twenties. One guy tells me there are bands springing up in almost every bigger city now.
Maybe he's just dreaming it up, too... or flowing freely or whatever...
