The Bougalieu?

I'm only aware of Let's Do Wrong released as two different versions on stock and DJ
This sounds a year or two later to my ears

Pretty cool!
There's quite a lot of crackle and pops there, so my guess is it's taken from an acetate.

Don't know if one is 'laid back' really... but it 's totally different takes of Let's Do Wrong on the DJ and stock copies of the 45. Stock is a bit edgier with more punch in the drums... the DJ version is a bit freakier with wilder vocals, spacier break and a spacey psychedelic ending that isn't included on the stock version. The DJ version is ca 30 seconds longer than the stock. I like both but the DJ version is more entertaining IMO.
The DJ pressing also has an edited mix of When I Was A Children (2:25) which IMO works much better than the full length version on the stock (3:29)

Does anyone know if they released a record called "Of Thee I Sing/Aquarian Age"? Or did it remain unreleased at the time? I "found" it on Mike Havelins page.

Of Thee I Sing/Aquarian Age

We did not release these. They were intended to be demo records. We recorded them in 13 hours total in the spring of 1969. I sang lead and co-wrote them with Mike Havelin (whose real name was Mike Rothman, lead guitarist for the Bougalieu). It was recorded at Beltone Studios in NYC- where James Brown also made records. Thanks for your interest, Walter Saxe

Were they recorded as "Corners of the Heavens" demos, or did you revert back to the Bougalieu name for it?

The Bougalieu. PS- I am trying to obtain the masters (to eliminate the scratches) It's a longshot after all these years.

I've got a live set by the Bougalieu that sounds pretty good, Walter. I assume you have it?

A

live set? Wow! No I do not but I would really love to hear it. When and where was the set recorded?

I have the details at home and will report back after I gather the info. I can upload some songs to my website or burn you a CD...

That would be geatly appreciated. Also, love to talk with you at some point, I have a lot of interesting history and personal experiences with groups of that era like the Blues Image, Jeff Beck group, the Myddle Class, Led Z, the Beach Boys and others to report about from my days in the music business from the 60's whichmight be of interest to you and your followers.

Coincidentally, I just put up a blog post about the Bougalieu/Corners of the Heavens' time in South Florida.
Here 'tis, on the fairly new Savage Lost blog.

That is a very accurate portrayal of the waning days of the Bougalieu. Your information is insightful and honest in every respect and I also share your comments and opinion on Let's Do Wrong and Parker's inimitable contributions before my term with the band. I am forever grateful for my part with the Bougalieu and have many fond memories of those days and the songs we played, including cover songs, which were executed quite well due to the talents of my bandmates.

Thanks for the feedback. I urge everyone else to check out the blog post, and feel free to leave a comment... or a link to the site. It's new, and can use all the help it can get.

The blog looks GREAT, Jeff. It will take a while to read all that you've posted to date. Looks like the Mailing List option isn't working, however - it'd be cool to receive updates on the latest postings.
