The Four and the Jades on Clark Records

Clark Records was part of Nugget Sound Studios and the Nugget label, just north of Nashville. You may know the Jades excellent "You Have to Walk" on Clark as it was on Let's Dig 'Em Up 3 and a Gyro1966 comp.

Here's the only other garage 45 I've come across on Clark, "The Four", uncomped and not in TBM:

The Ebb TIdes "Little Women" is a good 45 on Clark. The band was from Columbus, OH. They were chosen to join a package tour that played the summer of 1965 - mostly county fairs and civic celebrations (like "Strawberry Festival") in the IL/IN/KY/TN/OH area. As part of the deal they were taken to TN to record a 45 so they could be plugged as 'recording stars' and have a souvenier record to sell. "Little Women" is the Ebb Tides, the flip side they backed a singer Gene McKay, he was another performer on the tour but had no connection to the Ebb Tides.

Doesn't sound like them - and that was a Memphis recording, but that would be an interesting connection if true.

Yes it is them. George Parks wrote both the songs on one acetate (including the killer "69"). The second acetate was written by Greg McCarley.

All of the acetate tracks are far better than the Clark 45 (which I like). It's a pity that one of the tracks, "I Gotta Go" has been pretty well trashed by some kind of solvent on the acetate.
