I just happened to stumble across these fantastic pictures of The Kinks while browsing old photos from my neighbourhood in Oslo (Nordstrand) It's from a concert they did in Nordstrandshallen (or Niffen as it's locally known) in the spring of '66, just two blocks from where I live! I walk across the parking lot of this building each morning on my way to kindergarden. Great stuff!

The last few pictures is, if I've understood correctly, actually of the support band, Norwegian beat band The Missing Links!

This certainly made my day!

Fantastic photos. The one from behind the band on stage and looking out into the crowd is amazing, and sums up the whole scene nicely.

I like the one with the cute little thing in white go-go boots...sums up the SCHWING nicely;)

I didn't know John Dalton played with the band before 1969...

I have a Beat Instrumental from Nov. 1966 with a piece on the Kinks' new bass player, I could scan and upload it if you'd like. I remember it saying something about how he'd only participated in one studio recording for the coming LP but has been playing live with the group.

John Dalton was a temporary replacement for Pete Quaife, who had gotten into a road accident with his scooter or motorcycle; or something like that.

Great article! The track he recorded on the next LP was of course Little Miss Queen Of Darkness on Face To Face:). After that, John played on Dead End Street, and toured to Birmingham, Norway and Spain, before Pete came back from the car accident.
By the way, Mr. Segment, I have problems viewing the pictures from Nordstrandshallen. Where do I find them?
