Hey, folks, I'm going to be speaking to all of the Monteras for an oral history I'm doing on 'em. Anyone have any questions?

Joe Malin, singer/songwriter, and his sister (the organist) are going to see the Rascals show in Chicago tonight...Joe said that the Monteras did a lot of Rascals covers b.i.t.d.

I thought John Scoville's sister Linda (he was the drummer) played the organ for the group?
Nice to see Tony Winter has softened over the years. I tracked him down and called him in 1992 or so, and he thought I was from the government or someone playing a joke on him - he wanted to know how I knew about the Monteras and why I wanted to know details, refusing to believe my intentions...then he hung up on me..haha

I was in touch with Joe Malin about four years ago. He said he and his sister Lynda were putting together a bio but I never heard back. Great for tracking them down again, good luck.

Well, folks, things are getting interesting. Just how many copies of "You're a Tease" on Orlyn are supposed to be in the loop? 5 at most?

Probably double that, stu. Craig Moerer had 2 copies at set sale a few years ago from the Crocker dupes buyout. Was too late to grab both copies. Most of the oldtime Chicago guys have the Monteras. They don't even look at this forum.

The Orlyns I know of that tally 5 or less are Outspoken Blues and Steve Melshekner.

The "only one known" Orlyn is the 1st Delcords 45, "Wipe Out".

Turns out that three of the band members have copies as well, and there is the possibility of a quantity being sold to a dealer some years ago.

In the unlikely event that copies actually turn up, you'll all be the first to know. In the unlikely event of a water landing, Orlyn records will provide you with a flotation device.
