The Rusty Nail was a British group active in Singapore in the 1960s. Most Brits active in the Singapore scene at that time were servicemen based at one of the many military bases on the island. The band was:
Joe Jordan – Lead guitar, lead vocals, organ
Phil Sweetman – Rhythm guitar
Stan Matthews – Bass
Bob Lukes – Drums
On the EP, A & R man Dave Magson plays harmonica.
My copy of the EP is real beat up, but the best track, ‘Ooh Baby’ by Jordan and Sweetman, plays just fine. The other original, ‘What you’re doing to me’ is more subdued, but also way cool. Check out Mr Ed’s old Music Round Up blog if you want to hear that one. Liner notes on the EP mention a forthcoming LP, but I have never seen or heard anything more about that.
Phil Sweetman placed a photo of the band on his fb pages, but I can’t see that he says anything more about the band. Anyway, it looks to me like they are wearing wigs. If you ever read this, Phil, please tell us more.
Here is ‘Ooh Baby':
