The more I listen to this, the more I really like these guys especially their version of "Little Black Egg" (Not to detract from The Nightcrawlers). I'm more familiar with the rich punk history of northeast Ohio than the central and southwestern region of the state. Anyone know what their story is?

Surprisingly, they’re not on Buckeye Beat. I have some very low-fi recordings of the band. If I recall correctly, they were playing live in a park, and a guy recorded them from his bedroom window! I can see if I have any more notes if you’re interested.

That would be amazing and if there is any way you could upload that recording to Youtube that would be the proverbial cherry on top. 🙃

I've already commented on this band.....to refresh, we had a full story and pics as part of a planned comp with all the songs from Musicol master tape. The band also had a reunion some years ago and created a web page with more pics. I haven't posted it on BB as I had other higher priority things to do. Maybe I can post the basics in a week or so. Like 80% of these 1964-67 teen bands, the story is pretty much the same.

I really like them, alas Little Black Egg is a song I prefer to never hear again, maybe that has something to do with my old band covering it. Pfff too much of a good thing I guess...

Whatever happened with that Musicol comp?

I'm certain there's nothing of value here (because it's SO low-fi) unless you're an insane completist like I am, but here is the live Shackles recording. It was recorded in the summer of 1967 at Heise Park basketball courts in Galion, OH. Be prepared for planes flying overhead, sirens, trains, PA announcements, etc. It's very difficult to listen to, and I challenge you to make it through all 45 minutes (it's not complete, either; just what the recorder, John Stickel, who graciously sent it to me along with other items, was able to tape).
