The Sky Is Black

I saw it too and he knows what he's done and he should take it down. Or at least give thanks to Mark for using it.;)

Or if you knew the blogger was a member of G45 (as it appears you do) maybe you should have sent him/her a private message first before sharpening your knife in public.

Guys... I made a post in regards to the TRY-ANGLE.... I am talking about the music and how it relates to me as a person, I haven't done an injustice to the world of Orlyn of the 45... I haven't even stated the source... I admit I used the label scans in my post... but the two tracks from the 45 are available on Youtube and I have had those two songs in my collection prior to the cd was made... the label scans are available online too... but due to the clarity and nice look of it, felt that it looked more neat??

The blog post is by no-means an act of one up manship or even meant to anger anyone... it's just a post about a really hip band who I love and who made a killer 45 that means a great deal to me and my personal life.

If anyone wishes for me to remove the Try-Angle post, I sure will BUT seriously don't feel I am breaking any rules by making this 45 a little more known considering it's on Youtube and available easily via comps?

If I have angered anyone, by all means send me a message and let me know.... else I am just pissing in the wind here?

Paul

PS.... as stated the blog post is simply about how a 45 relates to me as a person and by no means was meant to upset anyone least of all Mark - however if Mark wishes for me to remove it I shall.

Paul

I personally don't have a problem with it. I do think Mark should be credited for the scans, however. The Try-Angle 45 is definitely a favorite of mine, too, and if something was available on some other of my favorite 45s, such as The Gnomes on Afton, I'd be compelled to post something similar as well.

I do think out of courtesy to Mark that he be allowed to provide direction. I could be wrong, but I think he'll let it slide.

I can't find the Try-Angle's Facebook page. Do you have the direct URL?

Eh. I feel this was made into too BIG of a deal.

Personally, it doesn't bother me. I guess I was just trying to understand exactly what the 'rules' mean. These aren't my records, so that's why I didn't take it upon myself to try and handle the situation. That's up to the boss. I was simply reporting.

But I would agree with Frantic on crediting Mark at least. There's no need for you to get rude.

Mario... I wasn't meaning to be rude... I just felt 'put' on.

I have credited Mark on the post, I didn't credit him originally as I .... 1) forgot and 2) didn't feel that Mark would've cared? and 3) the blog post is about the group and how I dig that 45.

I could understand the dismay had I maybe written a blog about The Heard - Poppies b/w Where has My Summer Gone, because it's unknown, uncomped (I think?) and a work of pure genius.... But Try Angle has been a known quantity for a good while now.

I'm not a prick, I just write about music I love.... on my blog, most of the scans or pics are of my own records... BUT y'know The Try Angle is one I haven't a hope in hell of owning, but wanted to spread the word.

The Try Angle facebook is there.... try getting rid of 'The' ??

This is all very unfortunate. I hope it doesn't deter Mark,(or anyone else that contributes to the secret society) from posting music, photos or any info that's supposed to be kept here.

Come on Darren, ... The post is a listen only file!!!.... Its akin to Youtube but with pics and a well written article... Try Angle is a 45 which is well known amongst fans of this music and it's rarity as music isn't rare (unlike some of the other sides on Mark's dc's), yes I used Mark's scans and credited him... No-one knows of its real source or the rest of the Orlyn cd's.... Its just a post paying homage to one of my fave 45s.... Has anyone even bothered to read the blog and see what the whole vibe is?

Its a blog where I just post about my favourite stuff which relates to me at that time..... Nothing is downloadable, its just for people to enjoy and read.

As stated... If Mark wishes for me to remove the pic sleeves I will... but the post is gonna remain as I really feel I've done nothing wrong here?

I mean had I just put some 'Youtube' video with the same songs (probably) from Mark's collection anyway! instead of the pic sleeve images, would that have been cooler and more accepted?

The fact that I am someone who genuinely loves this music and particularly loves the said 45 and felt that writing a small piece on a blog that hardly gets any views anyway would justify it and the Band's place somehow to people who may stumble upon it??

I can go to Popsike and just use one of the six or so images of the exact same 45 from there??? I just felt the scans were more official and looked better on the page?

Come on??? it's not like I'm writing about an uber rare!!! unheard of, one known copy..... I mean damn, last week I got offered via this forum if I wanted to buy the 45.

Paul

Paul,
I'm terribly sorry.
I wrote this post long before I knew all the details of what was going on.I thought someone had posted the whole comp or something to that extent on the net.
I would read the posts here, and did not realise there's more to read before posting. I'm referring to how the site is laid out on my screen.I'm not criticizing the site of course. I didn't know who or what recordings were involved,or anything further to 1/2 way down the the 2nd page of this thread for that matter until now.I was only stating that (worse case senario) if someone had put a section or all of this Orlyn comp free to the intenet, that it might deter Mark,or anyone else from sharing more stuff we would all love to have down the road.

My apologies,Paul, and I hope there are no hard feelings.

Paul,
Also, the post I originaly made (#53),I thought was going to be right under Frantic's post on Aug. 30th., Post #40. At that point it would have been a reasonable post response I think. I've posted this just to further clarify what I was thinking.
Once again,my apologies.

PS I looked at your blog and I liked it :)

Darren, look it's cool... apology accepted, it's one of those things.

Mike your post was a bit goddamn strong?? you don't even know me and by the sound of your post haven't even bothered to read this whole post and assume that the whole comp has been shared?? get you facts straight before making wide-eyed statements.

You have no right to call me an egotistical fu**wad or a-hole?? have you even seen my blog post yet?, all I shared was two Try-Angle label scans with a credit to Mark... the said songs are all over the internet, on Youtube, on various compilations, on people's own Podcasts.

I am not going to justify myself to you people anymore.... I've linked said blog post, explained my reasons and emailed Mark and spoken to him, what the f**k do you people want?

The whole compilation has not been spoken about, shared or talked about to others, all that has happened is I've made one blog post about The Try-Angle and on it, I've explained about the band and how the music relates to me.... so you can hush your mouth man!

I personally can't understand the negativity that has come from a few people on this post in regards to my one blog post about The Try-Angle???.... hopefully Mark will come on here soon and clarify everything and put an end to this bullsh*t.

IF Mark wants to kick me off this board for the one very minor and totally non-conflicting and accidental blog post about a Band I really f**king dig.... well then fair enough... I don't need to be riddiculed for the sakes of some music, it's not worth it..... I love 60s garage music more than anyone, it's in my blood, but if I have to endure shit from other people for my love of this music, I'd rather not be on here and would hope Mark kicks me off... keep the boys club, I've done nothing wrong and have had stones thrown at me by you folks for no reason.

Paul

"I love 60s garage music more than anyone" - Paul Messis

:p

Also, saying that you hope Mark kicks you out, might not be the smartest thing to say Paul. That's not necessarily helping your case. You state that you did nothing wrong, but then you say things like that?

I don't get it.

These people put in alot of work so that you can enjoy this stuff. Instead of talking smack, you should appreciate their contributions and efforts. Where else are you gonna find such rarities for your listening pleasure? Nowhere!

It's also very depressing to read what MTM wrote, because I'm sure whatever he planned to offer would have been great! :(

I would hope that he isn't serious..

Mario, you're mis-reading my post!

I am in friends with other collectors of this stuff mario and have discs upon discs of unheard stuff, which I've never shaared before... I just don't like being given shit for something which doesn't even warrant it.

Also you quoted me in the wrong manner, I wasn't proclaiming that the royal I loves garage more than anyone else, I was subjectively suggesting that I love this music as much as the next guy on here.

It bothers me not either way.... I feel I have done nothing wrong, a few of you guys do....I'm waiting on Mark whom in talking with feel will be okay with my blog post.

I however will never take shit from anyone and am clearly sticking up for myself.

Mark has done a lot for us no-counts over the past 5+ years by allowing us to hear a ton of great tracks in the best sound possible, sometimes even paying royalties out of his pocket, and asks for nothing in return.

Actually that's not true. He asked for one little thing this time... don't share. Not even that one track that is your most favoritest song in the whole, wide world.
