THE SYNDICATE 1964-1966 Southern California

What's that guy to the left doin' with a Lester Lanin record?

Yep, the same band that did "Egyptian Thing" and "My Baby's Barefoot".

Check out this LINK.

The last '66 news paper article mentions that they were workin' on an album (!!) incl. the above tracks.
So perhaps there's more!

When I interviewed James he mentioned four demos:

60s: Do any other '60's Syndicate recordings exist? Are there any vintage live recordings, or unreleased tracks?
JK: I have a semi-rough demo of four other songs we recorded. I say semi-rough because they never were completely engineered.

Yikes! That's really good! Both It's simple and Hills of San Marie had deserved a proper release at the time. Certainly hope there's a chance these songs will be released at some point, in legitimate form and restored.
