This is probably a bit too heavy on the rockabilly/C&W side for my taste, but it should be right up some of you guys' alley.
The packaging looks amazing.

I need to own this.... I had best start saving and hope it gets cheaper in the UK in the next few weeks.
It is very limited and will not be much cheaper. If you wait it will be gone. This has Bear Family written all over it.

I don't usually buy CDs, but it took me 10 seconds to decide to get this one. It's already on its way to Rose Bay, thanks to Mr. Pfft and Joey D.!

Mark....that is so weird...I'm driving home a few minutes ago from a record run and I'm thinking to myself, "Hey Joey, Mark has started buying rockabilly 45s, and this would be a great way for him to discover/learn about the rarest of the rare Texas rockabillies, kinda like when you wanted everything from BACK TO THE GRAVE. And sure enough, I log onto G45 and VOILA...you bought one. Great minds do think alike. ha! But I kid you not, I actually was thinking that. Crazy:yikes: Get ready to spend loads of moolah.

I didn't really have an extra $260 to spend but after checking out the tracklist I just couldn't resist. I kinda rationalized it to myself by saying "Wow, free postage! Can't pass THAT up!"

Yeah! Thanks Joey (& Mr. Pfft of course). I would hate to miss out on this. I don't really collect rockabilly 45s tho'. I have a few but nothing exciting. '60s rockers, yes for sure.

this box set looks and sounds so great…. I just wish I had the funds at the moment!!

This box set seems like its later rockabilly and what I'd called the pre-garage rock n roll groups, I love the early 60s period…. damn, I had better start saving for this and hope it don't sell out.

No Hit Records in London has a copy for 160 pounds, however London is full of rockabillys, who I personally don't respect the garage stance many of these early rock n roll group had…. the rockabilly scene is weird in England.

One thing I've noticed whenever I've gone to events here in the UK, is that Rockabilly fans and Northern Soul heads, don't really listen to much music outside their "genres" however garage heads have a much more versatile tastes… plus also hold a real love for the greatest music on earth, which is teen beat music.

Dee-Jay/Buffalo Bop is Bear Family, I think B-Sharp is too. I think anything that is in the gray area for licensing won't be on Bear Family. I could be wrong about B-Sharp though. Notice the TEXAS BOX subtitle...ODDBALL labels? Means a impossible nightmare to get the rights to this stuff. I'd be surprised if Tim Warren didn't master the Texas Box.

All the Nasty Rockabilly volumes are on B-Sharp, this is on Be-§harp. Fwiw discogs lists this in with the B-sharp stuff, but why would they change to Be-Sharp just for this...trademark issues?

OH, and while we`re at it, how much of a chance do you really think a label would have of doing all of this "legit" when they have the habit of releasing their stuff sheathed in hardcore porn? Not bloody likely! Think how many of those early rockin` types are now bible thumpers...pretty common scenario!

A majority of the tracks on the Texas box are also on the Buffalo Bop cds, which have been out for years, all of which I own. Buffalo Bops are on the Dee-Jay label which we are not supposed to know are owned by Bear Family. Bear Family cds as far as I know are all licensed and legit. The reason the tracks are on Buffalo Bop is because they are on (ODDBALL) obscure labels that couldn't be or were too hard to license. The same goes for the NASTY ROCKABILLY series which contain a lot of obscure releases on tiny extinct labels. All three labels are out of Germany. What better way to regurgitate/re-sell more rockabillies that are already readily available than to stick them on a new bootleg series then stick cocks and toys entering and leaving various openings of the female anatomy. I personally think the covers SUCK (pun intended) Also, the layout for the TEXAS BOX looks exactly like something Bear Family would release. The main reason I'm buying the TEXAS BOX is because of the book and the tracks that aren't on the Buffalo Bop cds. Without the cool packaging and book I wouldn't buy it. Once again, I'm not saying 100% that Be Sharp is affiliated with Bear Family, but I'd almost bet the farm on it.:sneaky:

I checked this with a buddy who works for Bear Family. This is not released by them - it's by the same guy who did Nasty R-a-b etc. The sleeve designs are made by the guy who also does the Bear Family stuff. They got pissed off and nearly fired the guy cause he hadn't told them about working for another label on the side like this...

Believe me, if he wasn't so good he would have gotten fired. Did you find out if they lifted most of the songs off the Buffalo Bop cds?
I actually hope they are. The Buffalo bop CDS sound great even though most/all cuts were vinyl transfers. I was actually hoping that the Be Sharp TEXAS BOX was part of the BEAR FAMILY family. Then the sound would be great. So let's hope we don't get a cool looking box and book with crappy sounds.:crap:

Yeah my buddy said that most of the stuff is from the Buffalo Bop's. The plan is apparently boxes for every state. I think Michigan is next up.

I KNEW IT!!! So I guess since your buddy almost got fired doing the TEX BOX he won't be doing the next one? Your buddy is really good at what he does. One of the best. I'm glad they took the songs off the Buffalo Bops! I'm pretty sure Timmy Warren has been cleaning those up for years.

It's not the sleeve guy that I know though... my friend is here in Sweden and takes care of Bear Family Europe promotions/dealings etc. But he's well informed on everything that goes on. I checked this out because he's supposed to send over som Bear Family stuff to us... so I was hoping this was one of their releases haha :)

Either way, they'll need to make their next set look as cool with a great book and box. Just taking songs straight from another series won't cut it. Especially now that the jig is up.
