This Week's finds in the Wild

out of a jukebox operation I found Chocolate Telephone Pole "lets tranquelize in color", The Rovin' Flames

I like the fact that these were intended for jukeboxes back then!

I have this notion that northern music Is a lot more abundant than garage and still out prices mid priced garage (like 75 to 100) what's the deal?? More northern collectors to rock collectors? Maybe is a dumb question dunno.
But I would love to get my hands on a few northern to satisfy my garage wants hehe...

I would say the ratio of soul collectors to garage collectors worldwide is about 50 to 1, maybe even higher. The soul scene is huge, with young and old participating via all-niters, clubs and weekenders besides collecting the 45s.

Well I tend not to judge from group names but chocolate telephone pole???

With that group name and song title, you'd be expecting some really tripped out psychedelia rather than the limp pop song it turns out to be. It's of the top fake-out records you run into in the wilds; a good reminder of the massive number of bands in the 60s that tried to cash in on the psychedelic scen "in name only".

There's a good collectors market for sweet soul, including 'low rider' ballads. This market is centered in the US and growing. Deep soul also has a market. There are several titles in these styles that go for four figures. Many of these people are outside of the standard Northern Soul scene. The death of soul collecting is a long ways off. The records that are declining are the pop-ish Northern Soul and 'Big Beat' records, such as Roy Hamilton, stuff that does not translate to the younger US and European dance scenes.

That's nice and I think is the only cover in color from the lp justice catalog.

Bought this load on the weekend for $1000. Donated 70% to Goodwill. Not many garage 45s but a lot of rare Northern soul and Funk 45s. Lots of nice psych LPs though, ART OF LOVIN, STOOGES, SERPENT POWER, TRASHMEN, LITTER..etc.
