The new version of "Writing On The Wall" has a charm in its own right. I totally dig the singer's voice. It is totally a sixties voice. Nobody sings like that today. He has a very characteristic voice, not a dime a dozen. And it comes out better in the new version than in the old. Which makes the new version very valuable I think. And the fact that it's really that same voice! A lot of the old singers don't sound the way they did back then. Phil May for example is still a good singer, but he lost the characteristics of the voice he had back then. And how much I love the way he sounded back then! I also love the minimalist approach. Unlike many others who do new versions of their old stuff and try to take the opportunities of nowadays' plug-ins and whatnots to make it sound "big".
No need to discuss it again. Just my two cents.
By the way, I love the fact that they covered "Yellow Balloon". I'd love to hear that. Also that he says they tried to achieve something as what the Raspberries did later. That's interesting.
