Major garage influence. What's your favorite Dylan influenced garage tune?

Home made ps for the Trashmen...

Same Lines vs Queen Jane Approximately or Public Execution, what's the difference? Dylan and his garage influence.... ( Mouse and Soup Greens). And who else....?....

With all due respect, most garage dylan covers are not very good.

it's interesting that his influence seems to have peaked with "another side", hardly a critics' favorite. then, there are many covers of (mainly side a) of bringing it all back home, but after that, his influence on the teenbeat scene seems to have decreased.

but then, he must have been an old fart to them anyways, in 1966 he turned 25, shudder.

Hey captainsalty I agree with you, I meant to say his early style with the organ, mouthharp and somewhat snarling vocals must have been some sort of influence on the then young starting teen bands. Covers of his songs peaked with Baby Blue (various versions) and the fabulous Soup Greens.

No one was more snarling and spiteful in 65 than Dylan and Van Morrison in Them (It's not surprising that Tim Warren is major fan of both Highway 61 Revisited and Them). In 1966 he totally changed his voice (Blonde On Blonde style) and i don't dig that... Out of his trilogy, that's the album i'm still not getting.

Decent Bob versions by non garage bands, just for fun here. Actually I like them way better than Dylan's own versions. Unbelievable that The Byrds chose Back Pages over the fabulous Renaissance Fair to be the A side. One of the greatest songs ever IMO along with God Only Knows. Getting way out of garage stuff now, oops my bad;)IMG_4284.jpgIMG_4285.jpgIMG_4286.JPG

13th Floor Elevators' 'It's all over now (Baby Blue)' is essential garage psych (maybe the best version, better than the original imho), and Them, Beckett Quintet, and Chocolate Watchband also do essential versions of the same tune, no doubt a moody slow dance monster back in the day

And probly the greatest, most stompin teenbeat cover of a Dylan tune imho has got to be the version of "One Too Many Mornings" by The Hitch Hikers on Cuca outta Wisconsin

And, some may disagree here, but imho the great folk punker 'That's Your Way' by The Aardvarks from Mi. has a mighty Dylan-esque vocal style goin on, for me that tune's greatness is a close second to the Retreds in this sub-sub-genre

There's a awesome Dylan-esque Remains song too, the Vern Miller original "But I Ain't got you", another moody weeper, one of the few slow Remains tunes

i once started a list of bob covers but grew a bit of disillusioned since most finds were just not very good. it may be a dumb thing to say, but the old marketing ploy "nobody sings dylan like dylan" still seems to have some truth.

sorry, but the list's layout was completely destroyed when i pasted it into here.

i can add entries if you have more.

oh man, how i hate that aquamen cover. screw that overhyped record!
