Unknown Acetates

This should be a joy for collectors but a pain in the ass of the archivist. Scratchy tunes from worn-out acetates, mostly from the US (I guess), with no clue on groups’ names and hardly an idea about song titles. I’m still wondering why the gems collected here didn’t make it to vinyl. *)
Surprisingly, the overall audio quality ain’t that bad at all, and moreover, something like magic happens (to quote our DJ Berta, don’t miss her!) as the mould and the dust clutched to the grooves sometimes give the nearly 50 years old artifacts a trippy, intensifying extra-kick (as on the instro track and on “My Girl Jill”). Not surprisingly the booklet to this comp doesn’t yield much of information. So here’s the challenge: I’ve added an "info-sheet" that can be returned after filling out some of the blank spaces. Any hint will be much appreciated, just don’t forget to state the source and your (nick)name. (I’ve put the original Youtube-links in the mp3-tags, but don’t expect to find much helpful information there). I will update the tracklist at http://michaelvee.livejournal.com every time a new list comes in. So don't mind the scratches and hiss, enjoy the show and help to shed some light in the darkest corner of the Garage! I promise I will pay full royalties once we know more about the artists and their exact address!

My connection is slow, so it's gonna take a while for this to download, but it sounds like Track 22 is "Being Here With You" by the Loved Ones, a Washington DC-based band.

Poor Man Dreamer #7 is from a Sanders acetate I have in my collection. The band is unknown, and it appears on G45 Unwaxed and also one of the Norton acetates volumes.

Of course I got all 5 Norton-Lps (and I wanted to avoid overlappings) but Poor Man Dream must have slipped my attention as it was posted at Youtube with "Unknown title", only in the comments I spotted the Poor Man but forgot to cross-check. (Can't find the track on g45 unwaxed tho). Thx for your update Boss! (Why don't you invite me to your bunker so we can dig for more unknown and unreleased acetates ....?!) (and what about plans for Unissued 60s Garage Acetates vol. 6?)

oooops, someone just taught me tracks #17 (Bats - Answers Please - EIRE ) and #19 (Luvin’ Kind - On the Waterfront- EIRE) are well compiled items (on 3 CDs each track!)... probabely I should neither smoke nor drink compiling ?

This is really a great collection. It's a shame we'll never know the groups, or hear them in better sound quality.

The only song I'm familiar with is 'I Lied', which I have on unreleased acetates by two groups, The Five Of Us and XL's, neither which is this version. I asked Alex Valdez of The Five of Us about the song, but he didn't recall any details. I bought both acetates on eBay, and there were another two to three acetates of the song listed at the same time, which I passed on. This is probably one of them.

thanks for your appreciation Greenfuzz. So I lied appeared on acetates by at least 5 groups, I mean different versions of the same song ? Really weird, this make the research job even tougher (as you said, probably we'll never know...)
