A slightly easier task.
Could it be The Reasons Why and their wordheavy fuzzbomb All I Really Need Is Love (and a solo as psychedelic a solo on a BFTG-track gets) b/w the moody, doomy, smoky Zombie-ish Nighttime-Daytime and its frisky hithat and awesome string-pickin desperado-solo?
Or will it be the pseudopsychotic panoramic paranoia portrayed in The Illusions City Of People (how high IS that guitar? pumped up to...2? 3, tops) b/w the sunburned, sand-in-my-ass, longing of Wait Till The Summer (geez, the guitar is still as low as on the last song!)
Maybe another BFTG-classic? Both sides appears on different volumes. I'm talking about the almighty KEGGS! That'd be my first choice. But to be a little more unpredictable imma gonna go forrrrr.......
SOUND BARRIER - (My) Baby's Gone b/w Hey Hey
Obnoxious white-lighty fart-noise in the beginning, hot drums from the git-go, enter snotty teen-vox, cool choir drenched in reverb, taunting organ, ass-tight guitar/bass till they hit the crashing refrain "She's gooo-oooo-oooone!".
The bridge is pure bliss.
The guitsolo is fuzztastic.
Turn the 45 and find more coolness. First an I-don't-give-a-rat's-ass intro on the guitar, followed by a crashing tambourine (first of MANY). Some cool studio trickeries on the refrain (hey-hey-ey-ey-ey-ey). And this time the guitar get's a chance to SHINE on the cooler-than-ice solo.
A thing that strikes me is how MAJESTIC these songs are even though there are no over-dubs or loud volume.
Totally representative for the 60s garage scene.
What is your pick?
