If you're interested in Australian '60s garage (or especially '70s bonehead rock) and haven't seen this book, you may find it interesting. A friend of mine gave me a copy last night, and I find it informative and amusing. It includes every notable '60s garage band from Western Australia, plus a comprehensive gallery of WA '70s blues / hardrock bands. Mostly with pictures that raise the Spinal Tap dial to beyond 11.

The garage band entries are pretty good . The pages aren't numbered, but there seems to be about 350 pages packed with detailed text and generally crisp clear images.

WHATTA JOKE. I tried to order the book and the LOADED DICE CD only to find out they don't ship to the U.S.:sneaky::flush::mad::evil::madd:

My friend George has replied. He said

Mark, please say we do, I just need to work out the postage.
You can get me his details and I’ll sort out right away.

So with your permission, I will give George your email address, Joey. Anyone else who wants a copy, just let me know and I'll hook you up with George. He's 100% trustworthy, a personal friend of mine for 30 years or more. Hopefully the website owner will amend the site soon.

I'd really like a copy of this, but I wonder if the $45 in postage to Norway is the actual cost. It seems very high...

It weighs 1.15 kilos without packaging.
It comes with a CD containing 89 mp3 music files. 5.2 hours of music by combos listed in the book..

There weren't really a huge number of garage bands in Western Australia in the '60s. So the book would not be worth getting just for the garage band entries. 75% of the bands covered are post-1960s. Plus the scope is quite wide, covering almost every type of rock and pop music including showbands. Many of the bands never released anything. A few of the songs included on the CD are unreleased.

I'm not likely to buy this book, but I do appreciate the huge amount of research & grunt work that goes into producing something like this. It looks like an amazing social document based on the sample pages that Mark posted. Only $50 as well, they can't be making much profit.

Thanks for the replies re. the postage. I guess I have to get used to the fact that postage from outside of Europe ≈ actual cost of item... I need to do some contemplating on this one.

I'm with you....I've decided to pass.

I bought one of George's other books. It arrived yesterday and looks great. It might be of interest to some of the people on here. Massive scene in WA.
