G45 AI is a discreetly hidden bunker that I set up to host songs, images and even videos created by AI. The rules are not yet set in stone, but the idea is to have as much fun as possible with AI before it kills us all. The first rule (apart from the usual rules of no personal attacks or really offensive stuff), is - please keep it '60s garage-centric. That obviously includes all the cool styles we like and regularly discuss on G45. I doubt if anyone here would want to break that rule. Crazed humor is most definitely encouraged!

I will get the ball rolling with a few posts, but it's open for everyone.
I recommend Udio.com for songs, DallE 3 for images and videos

But there are dozens of alternatives out there, most of which I have never used.
If you fundamentally hate AI, this bunker is not for you!

Haha! Ruling out offensive material means a blank forum, probably.

I should mention that I have a subscription to Suno, which is the best music ai currently. If anyone wants to create an ai song, but doesn't know how, I will do it for you. You just need to send me a "prompt" or description, and I will create the song using Suno. I will let everyone know how to write a "prompt" shortly.
 
Here is my first attempt.

I asked Suno to write a "surfer rock energetic retro" song called "Shoot Shoot The Curl". Then I gave it 3 lines of lyric, including some crazy stuff like "Down on the beach where the turkeys fleece the passers by and the hot dog man doth preach", and "shoot the curl and hang ten before a gust of psychedelic wind blows you away"

Suno did everything else. It composed the song, wrote most of the lyrics, played all the instruments, and sang all the vocals and harmonies, and produced this mp3 and image :

There is a limit to what you can specify, quite a short prompt. I would have liked to specify a few more instructions and parameters, but unfortunately it's not possible yet. Suno also took some of my style instructions "Farfisa Organ" etc., and put them in the lyric. And I have no idea what some of those lyrics in the chorus are saying! But I love the bass playing.
 
It could be interesting to give it the first couple of lines of an actual '60s garage song, and a bit of the chorus, with a description of the music and see what the AI came up with.
 
It seems AI is progressing at style: it has now mastered Chinese knock-off art.

Does Suno have access to YouTube, or would you have to feed it samples if you wanted it to come up with like music?

You don't have to (and can't) feed it samples. All you give it is a one-line description of the style such as "retro 1960s garage rock melodic", a title, and (optional) a few lyrics. It will create a whole song from that.

Currently it's extremely limited on the amount of guidance you can give with the prompts. And getting the style right is important. If you say "garage punk" you will get '70s punk. "Garage" sometimes produces something more akin to rap. You really need to use the words "retro rock" to get close to '60s garage. When I joined, the founders contacted me personally and asked what features I would like to see. I listed fuzz, '60s garage, farfisa, fender guitar etc. and they seemed to understand, so better things might be coming soon.

That would indeed be interesting. In general I don't want to steer the topic conversation toward copying real '60s garage, because ai will never do a satisfactory job at that (especially at this early stage). If only because lack of originality is something that influences the listener in a way that goes beyond the actual song and performance, and pollutes the fundamental concept of the music.

But if you care to nominate an obscure 60s garage tune, I will feed it in as an experiment for fun!

But I don't think AI will replace serious artists or musicians. If they're worth anything, they will always be a step ahead of AI. And if they're not, well...try harder!
 
who owns the copyright to AI creations? If you rerecorded this song with a real band, would it be a Taylor-AI co-credit? You could easily make a bunch of album filler tracks this way - for an album I wouldn't buy - no offence Mr Taylor!

Suno (like most other ai music making sites) is free to use for a limited number of songs per month. But free users can only use the output for non-profit and do not own the copyright.
If you pay $10 a month, you get a lot more uses per month and you own the output and copyright. This is the exact wording of their legal agreement :

Subject to your compliance with the terms of this Agreement, if you are a user who has subscribed to the paid tier of the Services (a “Paid User”), Suno hereby assigns to you all its right, title and interest in and to Output owned by Suno and generated from Submissions through the Services during the term of your paid-tier subscription.

If you are a user of the free tier of the Services, Suno or its licensors owns all Output generated from Submissions through the Services, and, subject to your compliance with the terms of this Agreement, Suno grants you a license to use the Output for your lawful, internal, and non-commercial purposes, provided that you give attribution credit to Suno in each case.

So, because I have a $10 subscription, I am the copyright owner of "Shoot Shoot The Curl" and unlimited other worldwide #1 smash hits. Where will I store all my gold records? 📀📀📀📀📀

What is creativity, but a lack of precision?
 
I decided to use Suno AI to write a corporate theme song for my line of high end audio enhancement products called HYPE.

I gave Suno some lyrics which took me 90 seconds to write. This is what I wrote, more or less. Suno changed a couple of lines and added a line of its own (I marked it with an asterisk. It also added the ooh yeahs, yeah yeahs and woos) :

Turn you inside out like a loco train (oh yeah)
Papa Papa mow mow poppa pow pow pow
Take a ride on the hype side, do it now (yeah yeah)

I was quite pleased with the result. Even though it's not really '60s, more late '80s with a bit of '60s atmosphere.
