Disc major underwhelming, price overwhelming to the point of insanityIs it just me, or is the Frank Wilson disc really quite underwhelming? Boring, even?
There are MANY soul sides that cost a fortune nowadays that are much better than FW. But at the time it was discovered (mid 1970s), this was the anthem for soul fans in the UK.Is it just me, or is the Frank Wilson disc really quite underwhelming? Boring, even?

NOPE, I LOVE IT. But then I love northern soul and I made a lot of money off it over the years. Is it just me, or is the Frank Wilson disc really quite underwhelming? Boring, even?
I like some of it too. Believe it or not, I have thousands of original US soul and r&b 45s fron the '60s and '70s, but they're probably not rare, and probably mostly not "northern". Some of them are killers and super exciting, high energy and melodic.NOPE, I LOVE IT. But then I love northern soul and I made a lot of money off it over the years.
Q: What's the difference between a good obscure/inexpensive U.S. soul record and a Northern Soul 'hottie'?I like some of it too. Now maybe you could explain to me what the popcorn genre is.Q: What's the difference between a good obscure/inexpensive U.S. soul record and a Northern Soul 'hottie'?
A: The club DJs have discovered and promoted it....there really is NO other significant difference (especially regarding musical quality).

Anything that sounds similar to "Stand By Me" by Ben E. King. Midtempo with subdued cha cha beat often but not always with added orchestration. Now maybe you could explain to me what the popcorn genre is.
As appealing as French fries cooked in horse tallow and served with mayonnaise. A 'Belgian delight'!Anything that sounds similar to "Stand By Me" by Ben E. King. Midtempo with subdued cha cha beat often but not always with added orchestration.
Thanks. Kind of sounds like some of the lounge bands I'm into.Anything that sounds similar to "Stand By Me" by Ben E. King. Midtempo with subdued cha cha beat often but not always with added orchestration.
Here is the signed copy being passed over during COVID lockdown -The guy selling the Frank Wilson 45 paid 100,000 pounds for it in 2020 per this article. "The turbo-charged entrepreneur has also forked out a stunning six-figure sum for a gleaming Ferrari supercar and married his sweetheart Lisa, 34 – all in the last two weeks!" It shows a photo of him holding the same signed copy that is now on offer: https://www.harboroughmail.co.uk/ne...he-worlds-most-valuable-motown-record-2934113
