With more ebay listings creeping in it might be a good idea to find out what the members want to see listed here . Personally I'd prefer Set Sale only . There is already not that much action here and ebay posts would eventually suffocate everything else , I've seen it on other sites . The Ebay Watch forum would be a better place IMO to host a thread for promoting ebay auctions .

I think it should be set sale only. Or offers if the item is rare enough. Most people on here have got a very firm grip on what's available on eBay at any given time.

I think of the ebay watch as a place to discuss items that just closed on ebay as (unless the poster is the actual seller) we do not want to "blow up" an auction that one of us could be bidding on. Making the set sale supermarket a "commerce area" seems to make sense in the case of ebay lists like the one Jason just put up, but if it gets to the point where 95% of the posts are random ebay flipper moves of little interest to the board members, that would be a drag and would threaten to drown out the occasional cool set sale.
I have no clear vote....

....other than one for more cool records being brought to market!

I personally don't see a big deal posting a link to an ebay auction here. 90% of the time, people will put the 45 on ebay, or within a Facebook record collector group to obtain the largest audience & the most money. That's why this area is like tumblin' tumbleweeds in a ghost town.

I also see nothing wrong with Jason posting an alert here for his '60s garage 45 ebay auctions; if anything, at least he is someone who is a member of G45, and that in itself is often a key to trusting a seller's reputation and skill.

Same here: Not bothered at all by members posting links to their ebay sales, but would be so if more and more disc hustlers sign up just to post their "in demand garage monster" (Castaways "liar liar") in "good condition for it's age" (G-). Would it be hard to configure the "set sale supermarket" so, that you can only post there after 10 regular posts?

However I do not agree that most garage 45s will get higher bids on ebay or FB. The Outcasts "loving you sometimes" would (and does), but would some unspinnable moody monster like Zoo's "sometimes", too? I'd guess not (which you're welcome to understand as an invitation to offer me your spare copy!).

I've probably used the sale feature here as much as anyone. Considering the section gets 4-5 posts a month, ebay postings should be allowed with the caveat that the person has already posted 10 (or so) times as GregK suggested. Its not like ebay postings are clogging the section and forcing sales off the top of the page, which is usually the reason why forums discorage mixing ebay with posted sales. What shoukd NOT be allowed (I haven't seen one but its possible) is someone posting a link to a Facebook sale (or a sale on someother forum).

I can see why folks would be concerned about Ebay auctions clogging up the set sale forum (which I think is a great idea in itself), but it doesn't seem likely that it would happen that way. This area of the website does seem to be pretty quiet most of the time as is. I think having a policy where only folks who are actual contributors to this place (ie- having posted at least 10 or so times, etc) can post about ebay sales seems to be a reasonable approach.
It can be frustrating when people drop in who have never posted here (and maybe aren't even that interested in garage 45's) try to sell their rarities. To me, trying to weed those kinds of posts out seems like a bigger goal.

Or- on the other hand, simply creating a section strictly for people to post their ebay auctions. That way the folks who don't care to see those links can just skip it entirely, and the set sale section can be only just that.

Or how about one thread in this section to link all members' eBay auctions of garage and garage-related records.
I agree with the minimum post requirement. However, that doesn't mean it should be allowed for someone to sign up, ratchet up their post count with garbage posts just to reach the minimum and then just come back only to hype their sales. This happens a lot on other boards.
If someone wants to use the board for relevant promotion, that's fine, but they should also keep themselves involved in general.

Actually what made me start this thread was a link for an ebay auction that contained no garage/teenbeat records at all .
