What would you say is THE BEST?

Very simple: there is no best. It's even hard to narrow it down. This is a game. It's fun just thinking which could be the ones to choose from. Remember: "Rules schmools..."
So what's your fave, judge? Two or three would be fine.

Why don't you say TOP 10 or TOP 20 then, but it seems to me and others that best means best, not 2nd or 3rd or 11th. The way you list all these songs the thread should just be called, SONGS I REALLY LIKE/LOVE. I have a best, it's Short Time by the NOBLEMEN. I would have a helluva time figuring out my 2nd best, but SHORT TIME is light years ahead of anything else so I'll always be safe with that pick. And I didn't say there were rules, you can type what you want but it just doesn't make much sense.

I don't really think of records in terms of there being a set-in-stone BEST. Give me a few beers and a stack of garage 45s, and I guarantee I'll be introducing every single one as the best, most amazing record ever. Having said that, one I always go back to, and epitomizes everything I love about 60s garage, is The Ascendors 'I Won't Be Home' - the main hook, the break, the backing vocals - everything in the atmosphere of this record puts me in the right place.

I can't wait to see you guys throw temper tantrums over your personal fave rankings once the TBM All Time Top 1000 is revealed in a couple of weeks!

Why would anyone get mad at someone's opinion. Your top 1000 is just that top 1000. But when somebody says BEST, to me that means 1 or maybe 2. Even if a person's Best changes from time to time is totally exceptable. But it seems to me that when you get a bunch of fans/experts together and rate their top 1000 faves, the final outcome should be pretty darn accurate!

Those two are somewhere in the TOP 100.
and it isn't my opinion, these rankings. It's the consensus ranking as determined by your peers. Which makes this list the most "official" consensus type effort there shall ever be.

I know Mike, I know!
That it was conceived behind locked just adds to the mystery, suspense and anticipation. I am actually quite sure that it will be fairly just. You cherry-picked the judges too, didn'tcha - you clever bastard!
some who like the janglers, some who like the primitive, some who like the moodies etc etc..

Exactly, Lee. No cabinet full of Tim Warrens or Jorgen J (Garage-beat LITE). What good would that do?

I should have asked you to participate, but I think we started during one of your "I's gettin' back to nature" sojourns...

Waaa! I'm flattered beyond belief!

I'm interested to find out how many songs on this list are not yet "comped". Some of the Back from the Grave 9 material? that could be good material for further Teenage Shutdowns too...

Isn't BFTG 9 still in the making? And if so, shouldn't TW get to work most quick-like?
The world deserves more more and more volumes of BFTG.
