Don't think I've seen any Sonics 45's mentioned. Psycho, The Witch and Like No Other Man can be had reasonably cheap. The latter two on one disc makes for a very cheap double sider...

Now these are what I consider cheap. Anything that can be bought off Ebay or in a record store for under $5.

Is the question for records that were not "hit" records? Considering no one on this forum (with a couple non collector exceptions) was actively buying records at the time, that's probably no longer relevant....anyways

Paul Revere and the Raiders - Stepping Out, Just Like Me, Hungry
Standells - Dirty Water / Rari

Byrds - Eight Miles High
Yeah, they hung around too long & David Crosby comes across like a prick (confirmed by a pal who knew them before they got popular), but this is an amazing record. Hard to believe something so "outside" attained hit status & radio airplay, although apparently some markets were scared off by "drug" references. This record also freed up local bands to try new things and maybe listen to other music (Indian, John Coltrane) & so on. A huge jump in what was considered "popular" music at the time. The brilliant fade out really makes it.

BTW, I really like this topic as it reminds me of when I was in high school and would skip afternoon classes on certain days to go to the local record co-op so that I could be properly educated. Certain dealers were always willing to spin common, cheap stuff for a newbie to help plant a seed of interest. I can see this thread sort of fulfilling that same purpose for people who are interested in being introduced to garage/psych but don't know where to start.

I would say the cheapest non-hit garage 45 (still $15-20 tops for a NM copy after 30 years of an endless supply) is the Beckett Quintet on Gemcor.

Most of the Sonics 45s on Etiquette are not going for cheap anymore; "The Witch" has sold for upwards of $75 on several occasions. Bob Pegg used to have quantity on the release with "Keep A Knockin" on the flipside for $20.

Yea, I should've noted Jerden copies are the ones that go through cheap $15-$30 or so. I don't think I've seen an Etiquette copy for less than $35...

I was at the Half Priced Books today and there was a clean copy of this for $12.99 and I looked on my handy database on my phone and realized that I do not have it... but could not pull the trigger as that smallish amount still felt about twice what it should be!

Clean or Near Mint? If it was Near Mint or Mint you should have grabbed it for that.

I got a load of Vancouver 'New Syndrome' singles a few years ago for $2 each, almost all mint, including these faves (I think I sold a copy of the first one to Rich S. here)...

I guess I'd have to call these great examples of bubblegum psych.
