woaaahhh, i am 99% Frank Marchant of the Malibus is my super close old friend Josh's dad. The Frank Marchant i'm thinking of was a musician in the 60's and he used always tell a hilarious story about how The Lovin Spoonful SMELLED really bad when he met them back stage at a gig where he opened for them once (probly the LS gig mentioned here), holy shit, small world. If this is the same guy, after the Malibus, Frank had a career as a lounge singer (which included several stints on cruise ships in the early 70's). Then sometime in the late 70's he gave up music and settled down and started a family.

Anyway, could you possibly send me a jpg copy of this Malibus article/photo so i can send it to Josh Marchant to see if its the right guy? Who knows, maybe Frank could even get someone on here some unreleased recordings of The Malibus from Bmore (i dont have any digital recording programs at the moment)

update: yes, my friends dad was in the Bmore Malibus... but no recordings of the band were ever made :-/ And other than the wacky recollection of The Lovin Spoonful smelling like a buncha stereotypically ripe hippies, Frank Marchant had no other crazy behind-the-scenes stories from the RSG event (at least none that he could remember, lol)
