2013 Official Year End Roundup

Not buying as much garage/psych as before and I think I posted all the best in the aural newbies thread, but this gem was won just in time to make this thread. One of the most rocking song-poem records I've heard.
The sound file is still up there.

Bought a few OZ garage, just a few of the top of my head!

Bobby Dean and the Worried Minds - Tell Me (offered a third copy for nothin')
The PleaZers LP
Tony Barber - Wade By the Water EP (m-)
The Allusions - Gypsy Woman (m-)
Steve and the Board - Giggle-Eyed Goo (Everybody's) x2
Missing Links - Wild About You (VG+)
And many others, don't remember...

My big score recently wasn't vinyl but a decent complete copy of Big Beat #1 from 1963 with all the first wave of British beat groups covered. These over-sized Life/Post sized things are a pain to store properly though... but I have a bunch of Petticoat fashion mags in the same format.

Nice to see all these shiny label scans! :sunny:

What's really a pain is to track down complete & intact copies. I've had to acquire two & sometimes three copies to complete a given issue, as this mag, to a degree greater than perhaps any other teen focused publication of the era that I am aware of, seemed particularly prone to being dismantled back when to adorn many a teenyboppers wall.

Though as the mag occasionally featured content along the lines of the below pictured its easy enough to empathize w/ the tweeny perps...

I'm lucky so far in getting unsavaged copies of it but only have #1, 3 & 9... mind you, I won't pay more than $25-30. #1 is actually titled 'Big New Beat'. I did get a Beat Monthly #2 missing the four center pages spoiling my run of that up to 1968 (got a refund on it too). The hardest mag to find for me has been D J from the early-mid '60s... D J for Derek Jacobs.

That is a cool Bo, Duchess & Jerome pic!
