Another new sound system

I made one SBT Strange Matter Diamond* brick and put it on the main switch at the distibution board in the garage. I moved the SBT Platinum brick which was there.

In my initial estimation, it would take 4 or 5 Platinum bricks to do what the Diamond brick is doing. Except for one thing - I don't think they could do it, not even 5 of them. There's just an extra new edge with the Diamond Brick that I never ever heard before even with 20 Platinum bricks on the mains. It's incredible.

* I like all the suggestions and thanks to everyone who helped with a name nomination. But I like Diamond best. In fact I was going to call it Diamond myself, but I thought Daniel might insist I add real crushed diamonds before using that name!

Dear Mr. Frantic
Thank you for your enquiry about our discontinued Platinum Pack (patent pending). Unfortunately all our operators are currently unavailable. Have a nice day. Goodbye.

After a successful listening session with Daniel last night and more STB Diamond production yesterday, I have confirmed a major finding that I (and Daniel as well) had suspected was going to be true. Actually Daniel wanted me to do this yesterday and I hesitated, thinking more bricks would be a better use. I was wrong about that. The greatest benefit and best value usage of STB Diamond is to be had by wrapping the power cables, and lengthening them. The longer the power cables, the better. They purify the electric supply along their entire length. The electricity goes in dirty at one end, and comes out clean at the other. The STB removes the "dirt", so the longer cable obviously removes more dirt. This has to be the case, otherwise a short STB Diamond power cable would be equal to, or better than a long STB Diamond Cable. It isn't.

This has vast implications not only for hifi and pro audio, but for the purification of the electrical grid for the entire planet. All that is required for pure electrical supply is to run the power through a LONG length of STB Diamond coated wire. The picture shows how I'm doing the Kii speakers. The power cable has as much effect on the sound as 32 Strange Matter bricks which are installed at the distribution boxes. Probably, it's hard to quantify but the SQ increase today since the application is massive. The amount of STB used for the cables would be only a small percentage of what I used in the bricks. No more than 5 percent. On the downside, it's a lot of work wrapping the cables, and an outer sheath would be required for a neat looking job. I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter if you start with a $5 cable or a $5,000 cable, the result will be similar.
I've only done half the cable length so far. I'll keep going of course.

Okay , that kind of preempts all I can report on my experiences with the 2nd STB pack last night ...
I have used the Sonic Elevator on the breaker box and mainly the P5M tape on the power amps and main wall outlet , plus taping the fuses . I had my pal Wolfy over for the listening session and we were both floored by the emotionality of the sound , nothing you can put percentages on just pure sound . It worked with fratty stuff like Invaders on Phalanx , groovers like King Richard on Delta or a cruncher like Kit & the Outlaws . Greatest sound for that night - John Does on Insite . Another thing - even after more than three hours we wanted to listen to one more record...
So if the STB diamond is a significant improvement on this - bring it on !
PS : Won't the cable diameter not also play a role in how that cable sounds ?

That's really great news Christian. I'm glad it's working out in your system.
Could you tell me two things? Because my system does not have amplifiers, and I don't know how to change the fuses in the Kii speakers. So I haven't tried some things yet...

1 - did the fuses make a worthwhile difference?
2 - did the P5M work on the back of the amp?

Thanks!
Mark

Maybe a Diamond layer between wire and insulation is the way to go. "STB Diamond power cables and interconnects: simply the world's best, and not by a narrow margin." - Hi-Fi+ Magazine
There are so many questions about turning the STB into a commercial cable product. For example, if PVA was to be used, would it disintegrate after a lot of twisting, or would it dry out and crack after a few years? And your suggestion, would it be better if it touched the actual wires, or not? I don't know...one thing I do know from my testing, is that STB doesn't burn, so it's safe in that regard. I tried igniting some with a gas blowtorch. The magnetic sheet burns, but it goes out immediately if the blowtorch is removed.

I don't know if you can believe this (especially Daniel who heard it last night), but since I wrapped the 2 x 3 metre chinese power cords with STB Diamond, the sound is 100% improved on last night. That's not a typo :boggle: It's like a sonic massage, of the brain and body. *

* It's probably only 25% better in reality, but the effect on the central nervous system equates to 100%.

Ahemm... , my approach is not very scientific , I'm putting on the upgrades that I expect would make the biggest difference . After that I'm judging if the sound has improved , but unless it worsens ( that never happened yet ) I'll let it stay . Living in an apartment house and using tube equipment means there are variables at work that are hard to pin down . I'm pretty sure the fuses are part of the improvement , as I was using the plain ones that came with the Coincidents . I had to put the P5M underneath the chassis close to the AC input , there is not enough space on the backplate .

I got my STB Platinum pack yesterday & tried it out today. I first played some 45s with the STB Black tape still in place. They sounded as I remembered. I then added the Sonic Elevator to my breaker box in a recessed spot above the breakers.

I played You Can't Sit Down by the Philip Upchurch Combo on Boyd. It is well recorded and each instrument takes a solo. It's especially good for judging bass performance when the standup bass takes a solo. The glare in the upper registers was gone. I could hear each bass string being plucked in the bass solo. Each instrument sounded more clear and distinct. The soundstage was wider and deeper. I could make out some of the jive talking between solos. I was gobsmacked. I then played Torture by A-440. I heard stuff I never heard before. I could make out the individual psych effects, it was not just a smear any more. I played the stereo version of the Surfer Girl LP by the Beach Boys. The soundstage was even wider than the mono records. It seemed to span the room. I don't know what the % improvement was. Maybe 75%? Maybe 100%?

Once again I have to say "Mark, you are a mad genius."

I will try taping the power cords to my various stereos. And I can't wait to try wrapping a power cord around a STB Diamond brick!

Fantastic news Rich. Thanks for the report.

Here's something incredible I just discovered 5 minutes ago :

TWO wraps of STB Diamond (one directly wrapped on top of the other) sounds twice as good as one wrap!! Really incredibly better.

I only double-wrapped the first 12 inches starting at the Kii speakers. This seems to be the most critical 12 inches. Maybe a double wrap at the first 12 inches woud be better than a single wrap for 24 inches. I'm just guessing.*

*I am certain this would hold true. The improvement from double-wrapping the first 12 inches is really, really incredible. Much more than a Stange Matter Brick on the breaker box. More like 5 bricks!

Latest discovery -
STB Diamind wrap works incredibly well on all digital cables as well!!
On digital cables it gives a different kind of improvement. More detail, not soundstage so much. But incredible!

MASSIVE inner detail improvements to be gained by treating digital cables with STB Diamond wrap. Hallucinogenic quality imaging and incredible, solid visual realism. Never heard this with reproduced sound before.

I can not believe how much the digital cables have been f*ing up the sound!!!!
The more STB Diamond I put on the digital cables, the more the SQ elevates into something totally beyond anything I have ever heard before in reproduced sound.
