Anyone can add YouTube video clips to the Media Page

Since no-one has added a clip to our Media Page yet, I thought I'd point out that it's very easy to do. And the Australasia section is getting embarrassingly large compared to Europe or The USA.
:D

From the YouTube site, copy the URL of the clip you want to add, then at G45Central click on the Media page tab, where you will see the Media Library. Click on the "Media URL" button at the bottom of the page, paste the YouTube URL, then click the "Retrieve Information" button. The clip should appear and start playing.
Next, change the category to show the region (USA, Europe, Australasia etc) of the featured combo. If it's a modern band, choose "Now Sounds".
Next, change the Keywords to just a few chosen words. Include the group name, state, town, and year if you know them. There's no point adding "60s" or "garage" or anything like that. That's pretty much assumed around here! Please remove any redundant keywords that may have been added at YouTube. They stuff up our "Keyword Cloud", haha.
You can change the title if you like, especially if it's been mis-spelled at YouTube.

Then Click "Save Media". Done.

And since it's merely a link to an existing YouTube post which already contains credits, there's no need to worry about crediting the original poster.

Hmmm... I tried a small change in the admin panel. Could you please test it again when you have a chance, Ed?

Also, could someone else please try it. It works for me, but I'd like to know if it works for anyone else.

Just tried to add to the media library as well. Doesn't work. It works in the forum, but not on the Media part of the site

It says:

Media URL did not match any supported services.

I just added a Troggs video and it worked ok.
You have to hit the "Submit" button at the bottom of the page after retrieving the URL.
Another possible problem could be - if you are getting your clips from a user's "channel" on YouTube.
(like this one)

It doesn't always work. You should click on the link "The Troggs - With A Girl Like You (1967)", and it will take you to the actual clip on YouTube. (this one)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WOdnA3TMGU&feature=channel_video_title

The above YouTube link will work, whereas the User Channel link often does not work for some reason.

Let me know if that helps, or not, Mass.

Aha, there is an invisible button!:)

But seriously, after pasting in the YouTube code and hitting the "Retrieve Information" button it just generates an error message. No "Submit" button to be seen.
