Aussie Nuggets tracklists announced.

Bought the Down Under Nuggets yesterday (23 November). Very impressed with the packaging and the song selection.

Just to point out that Steve and Board hailed from Brisbane and not Sydney. Bill Casey and I have ads pertaining that they gigged in Brisbane long before their sojourn into Sydney. The Derek's Accent write-up is incorrect as John Wilkinson gave me the correct story. He said the band were together at least a year, and not six months, etc.

I would like to personally thank Bosshoss for the effort in producing the quality sound on the vinyl dubs, using his secret formula BHQS10.

Thanks Mark!

After checking the tracklisting to the one I gave here originally, there seems to be some subtle changes, this includes the Bee Gees track, and now at 29 tracks as opposed to 30.

  1. The Masters Apprentices - Buried And Dead
  2. The Elois - By My Side
  3. The Black Diamonds - I Want, Need, Love You
  4. The Atlantics – Come On
  5. The Purple Hearts - Early In The Morning
  6. The Missing Links - Wild About You
  7. The Creatures - Ugly Thing
  8. The Lost Souls - This Life of Mine
  9. The Moods - Rum Drunk
  10. Derek’s Accent - Ain't Got No Feelin'
  11. Bee Gees – Like Nobody Else
  12. Barrington Davis - Raining Teardrops
  13. The D-Coys – Bad Times
  14. The In-Sect - Let This Be A Lesson
  15. Steve & The Board - I Want
  16. Toni McCann - No
  17. Peter & The Silhouettes - Claudette Jones
  18. The Five - There's Time
  19. Bobby & Laurie - No Next Time
  20. MPD Ltd - I Am What I Am
  21. The Cherokees - I've Gone Wild
  22. The Loved Ones - The Loved One
  23. Phil Jones & The Unknown Blues - If I Had A Ticket
  24. The Throb - Black
  25. The Blue Beats - She's Comin’ Home
  26. The Easybeats - Sorry
  27. Bobby James Syndicate - Hey Hey Hey
  28. The Wild Cherries - Krome Played Yabby
  29. The Sunsets - The Hot Generation (Unreleased Soundtrack Version)

This is a fantastic compilation. I have heard all these songs a million times before, but here they sound extra fresh and crispy - the sound quality is just awesome. I agree, Moonshine should definitely be here. The only non-essential song is Krome Plated Yabby, which IMO is merely OK.

There are great liner notes as well, but I'm not sure about the psychedelic artwork - there's not a lot of psychedelia to be found here, but I guess it's all part of the Nuggets trademark.

Yeah it's a pity Moonshine was omitted. It would have been a legendary comp with that track included. I sent the finished transfer even though the compilers didn't want it, just in case they changed their minds! But they didn't...

So here it is in BossHossQualitySound, for you to download in mp3 (compact file) and wav (very large file) versions. I'm very pleased with the way it sounds here, compared with any version previously compiled.

Gotta have this but it will have to wait until next year now.....my spare cash has just been spent on an Apple iPad for my good lady for Christmas.

I wanna chase some girls
Climb a mountain
Play my guitar in the Archibald Fountain

Great track! Thanks for posting it. I don't think I'd ever heard this before. Absolutely savage!

Almost sounds like an Aussie Ernest T. Bass from The Andy Griffith Show on vocals - a definite plus!

hi all,i'm new to this site, really likin' the 'moonshine' track bosshoss...any chance of a volume 2 sometime down the track minus aussie bands that are freely available on other comps (easybeats, masters, bee gees etc)..the song i had never heard before was 'hey hey hey hey' by the bobby james syndicate, hidden way down the order but it's an awesome track!

There's a chance that there will be an additional 4cd set released sometime this year. That was the original plan, but I don't know if it still stands.

I'd be curious to see what would be included in a 4 CD box set as this CD does include all the obvious killers. Perhaps it would include a lot of the material that Alec Palao used when he compiled Of Hopes & Dreams & Tombstones and The Hot Generation for Big Beat over 10 years ago.

I've seen a proposed list, but I'm not at liberty to publish it. It was proposed by the two Ians who also helped pick most of the material on the current Nuggets issue. Essentially, it's the best of what's left after the Nuggets CD. There's no great difficulty in picking the top 150 Aussie tracks, especially with the help of various recent publications which helpfully rate the songs according to merit.

Makes sense when you consider the list in the back of the Wild About You book, not to mention the tracks that merit five stars in Kommotion 1&2.
