Aussie Teen Beat Mayhem

Johnny Rebb is the best of that bunch, although each had one or two worthwhile moments. Such as Johnny O'Keefe who wrote Iggy Pop's biggest worldwide hit (#1 in New Zealand!) "Real Wild Child (Wild One)". Rebb for his Atlantics sides on Sunshine, and notably his version of Bo Diddley's "Pretty Thing"
Hear it here at 36:35. The rhythm/lead break is the best part.

Four shillings and sixpence was a lot of money in those days, and dates the magazine to pre-Feb 1966 when we changed to dollars and cents. Probably very early '60s.

Do you have this mark?

Just listened to The Kinks - I Need You, can't help thinking how much of a blueprint this must have been to US teens picking up their guitars and claiming their parents' garages....

The book? Had you seen it before?
No. Even though it says "Teen Beat", the featured artists are late '50s rockers or early '60s solo pop artists. Some had careers that survived into the mid '60s, but mostly had more in common with Elvis than the Stones or Beatles.
