Beyond TeenBeat Mayhem

Thanks for that insight vinyl01. They were a brilliant band, but in-tune with their time; and the times they were a changin'.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm kinda leaning "no" on those borderline type novelty lyric / commercials for products releases. I know / have heard several of them, the Sting Rays included. I sold or traded my copy decades ago.

Front and back cover (color) look pretty swank! Now to push to the finish line for the inside....

Beyond Teenbeat Mayhem status update...

98% completed. A few key / obscure late arrivals have come in via collectors during the last few weeks.
Nearly all of them were registered for copyright - amazing to me, as I've never had that high of a percentage of unknown / unchecked titles match in a small batch of recordings.
Rather than leave these hanging, I'm heading back down to the Library Of Congress for a same day back & forth trek to harvest the info directly from the filed certificates in 2 weeks.
The book will then go to press (last week in July).

Can't do pre-orders since I need to make sure of postage cost. Since the book will be softcover, the shipping will be much less than the cost of shipping the hardcover TBM book. Exact weight and packaging must be established first before I make the announcement.

This book is considered a supplement to TBM (it won't make much sense unless you have a copy of TBM).
It's a bare-bones, all information book - there are no label scans or group photos (keeps the page count down as well as the retail cost). This book was a lot more labor intensive, and taxing to pull off, I'll be relieved when it gets printed. Took a bit longer than I wished, but collectors 'n' fanatics should be pleased. I ran an ad in the latest issue of Ugly Things but the book isn't ready to order as yet, for those of you who have contacted me about it. Unlike TBM, this book will be a limited run printing, as it is aimed at the fanatical / diehard sect (there ain't that many of you out there).

Got this recently and just checking if this is a variation of what is listed in TBM. Flip is 'Black Cloud'.me & dem guys dearborn dont you just know it .jpg

Go this one yesterday and I know it's in TBM, but there is no release date. Does anyone know when this came out?oaces so good sd42.jpg

Hi, gang,

A Beyond Teenbeat Mayhem progress report / pre-order info

I'm fielding quotes from several book printers. I have a set price in mind, based upon what I know / have experience in dealing with. I will tell you that book printers are very much the same as automobile salespeople. the more you know as a buyer, the more they play hardball, or simply ignore you (you business is not worth the hassle for their company).

That said, the print biz is HURTING, especially for those who print book as their main focus. You would think most companies would be willing to make a deal, but not so. This is one of the reasons why Beyond Teenbeat Mayhem will be a limited print run - don't ask how many, that all depends on the final, agreed upon unit price.

Once I decide on a printer sometime next week, the book can be printed.

I've been asked about pre-orders, so I'll make an offer to G45 forum members only. Please, do not go blabbing or announcing that the book is available for pre-ordering on social media or other websites. I will issue a formal, "Ready for Purchase" announcement when the books arrive from the printer.

You may pre-order Beyond TeenBeat Mayhem if the following stipulations apply:

You are an active G45 forum member already (someone who posts);

You don't mind a short wait of up to 3 to 4 weeks at most [and don't bug / ask me "The book ready to mail yet?" queries. Impatient types are advised to wait and order later];

You are a U.S. resident (sorry, no non-U.S overseas pre-orders accepted -postage costs have to be determined, the U.S. overeas rates are are high enough as it is without being able to calculate precise specs. Don't worry though, the cost will be a lot cheaper than the $37.50 they now charge to ship one copy of TeenBeat Mayhem! overseas);

You must pay by mail order - send a check or money order in the mail
[Absolutely NO postal money orders!!! Those will be uncashed & returned to sender. The U.S post office is a pain in the rear to deal with when cashing in postal MO's; more than half the time they do not have the money in the clerk's cash register drawer to cover the postal MO to be cashed. I often have to make several trips, sometimes to different regional post offices in my area, wait in long lines, only to be told no one has enough cash in their register to cover the MO - most people pay for mailings by a credit or debit card nowadays.
I'm done with their headaches].

One book per customer at this time. If you desire more than one book, wait until the annoucement is made to order, and order another copy at that time.

Sorry about the rules, but this is how I gotta roll for now!

I think most everyone will be happy with the new book, that is, if you are a fanatical collector, avid listener, or have a major interest for the sounds. It's a record geek's dream, with plenty of information to supplement your copy of TBM. A few informative suggestions have been implemented in Beyond Teenbeat Mayhem, thanks to feedback posted on G45.
Needless to say, the new book is not a replacement for TBM; you will always need to keep your copy of TBM first and foremost.

Nope. That is why there is no release date shown in the book. If someone knew they would have told me about it by now.

I was really putting it out there to anyone who might have known that did not notice the missing date or whatever reason .

I asked about the Starliters 45 to anyone who knows about the letter 'r' being rubbed out on most copies on popsike and other places I found.

Let this be a lesson for you dummies like me who use Microsoft products -ALWAYS back up your files in at least 2 different types of formats!!!

Endured a Mega whompin ' PC crash on Tuesday morning. G-Damn Windows updates somehow corrupted my wifi and my MS programs. Troubleshooting with MS programs is like asking Stevie Wonder to drive you home on a crowded superhighway...Wiped the hard drive and reinstalled EVERYTHING. I only lost a days work thanks to flashdrive & cloud backup files.

Here is the kicker..my programs that came bundled with the purchase of my laptop PC in July 2014 all reinstalled fine. The MS programs all FAILED! Upshot is MS wants you to BUY THE PRODUCT AGAIN (older version isn't compatible type BS). I think the whole world is goin to hell with these youngun number crunchin types running the show...

So, I'm delayed AGAIN, I have to use another program and it is not allowing me to retain some formatting and other features. Experimenting now to see what I can come up with. Hopefully I can still go to print next week:wtf:

After further investigation it seems that the Microsoft software techies were instructed to write the registration code for some of the recently published, better selling software products with a "one time only" registration key.
They are trying to push customers into buying their Office 365 programs, they can be purchased on a monthly charge plan, tiered to data use / requirements, but when you total up the cost, a full year is required and tallies at a much higher cost than direct or on-line purchase of the software.

Now, I understand they don't want people reinstalling the same program on different PC's, but the same computer? Yes, even trying to reinstall on your computer is no longer allowed. no matter if you just want to torque up your OS by wiping the drive and starting fresh, or if you recover from an OS crash like I have done.

The only remedy is to buy the program again (which will cost even more than the old one if you want to purchase multiple licenses), or play phone tag and sit around on hold for 4-5 hours until a techie can log into your PC and reactivate the program, or give you a new license key, both for at least a $99 fee, which is not refunded if both options fail.

However, time is money, and that option is a no go for me.

Just something to think about if you have MS software that is year old or more recent.

All software companies seem to be trying to force people onto monthly rental plans. They see their customers as a huge flock of dumb cows that can be milked everyday.
