Anyone knows him better that me; What is he up to these days? He is VANISHED from all social media
(his Facebook page was the best)
I miss all the reviews he made in the Crypt catalogue. The website is still up and running, but there's NO
custom guidance like back in the day when he reviewed every record.
Where IS this cat?

i love the crypt mailorder, but it's obvious that he has little to do with it when it comes to which records they carry.

some of the stuff they stock now, tim would have set that on fire back in like 1995

Back in the day - even without Tims reviews, it was a pretty juicy stock they had, but WITH Tim's inputs you got even
MORE tempted to buy the stuff (or don't because he slagged off quite a few items they carried!).
Now it's just limp and lifeless. No passion.

yeah, someone should scan the old mailorder catalogues and lists, they were so good.

as a novice to the genre, you would be hipped to exactly what to buy (sonics, wailers, remains, new bomb turks, oblivians,..)

the standard back then was extreme. i remember tim totally slamming the spaceshits' "40 nights of boredom" (something like "this is EXACTLY what this rekkid will give ya"), which is a totally great 7" in my book. that one review has been irking me for like 25 years now:madd:

Tim Warren is thee greatest punk rock writer ever! The Bangs/Marcus/Robinson/Savage bibliographies are meaningless compared to any even short sentence Tim Warren ever wrote (though i gotta admit, R. Meltzer's hilarious-yet-spot on piece about the intense similarities shared by DISCO and garage rock is just as crucial as any Tim Warren rant).

There's so much insanity and creativity in every pre-2010's Crypt Catalogue. A book or zine or website of just scans and quotes from old Crypt catalogues would rule. "Spoonfed wimp rock youth" is a Warren phrase that makes me smile everytime i think of it. I also loved his "translations" of Wynonie Harris song titles (if you know, you know)
