Danny Kirwan

Sorry to hear, I appreciate his work with Fleetwood Mac, particularly during the era of Then Play On thru Future Games. Fluid tactile & nimble he expressed a focused melodic tone tempering & coloring the fervid maelstrom his fellow six-stringers conjured with abandon.

That's essentially all I know of DK, but for me, enough to rate him as a true Rock & Roller. He held his own up against Peter Green & Jeremy Spencer, no small challenge considering him being the teenage aspirant he was at the time.

Danny Kirwan was the anchor that kept Fleetwood Mac grounded, along with that great rhythm section when they played out. Yeah, Jeremy Spencer was tops at doing his "Elmore bit" and Peter Green was no slouch with his "B.B. & Freddy King routine", but Kirwin was willing to take a third division stance in keeping the rhythm flowing. They were a great live band - a force to reckon with on a good night , they had several outstanding stands at the long-gone Boston Tea Party , a shame their legacy gets so badly blurred with what Fleetwood Mac turned into.
