Foolish People: clueless ebay record sellers

what is the highest price this record has ever sold?

I dunno the highest price but take the price posted and divide by 100 and you're in the ballpark. The Canadian one is probably rarer. This is a stock copy, there are two promo versions, the white one is the first press and rarer.

call him foolish but that guy is quite a phenomenon. within a few years he grew from a small-scale record-pimp into one of the largest 2nd hand dealers in the country w/ a little cottage industry of low-pay youngsters typing discogs- and ebay-listings, cataloguing inventory and updateing his website. all because he was the only one taking advantage of new sales channels and buying collections aggressively. not very knowlegable but certainly "entrepreneurical".

I just picked up a copy of Victoire Scott - 4 Dimension that my girlfriend bought. The grading was kinda weird... VG, plays with slight surface noise, don't affect song, one signature on label
The 'slight surface noise, that "don't affect the song", is bad upfront surface noise that really affects the song. But the main thing is that the 45 has clearly been tampered with... polished with some kinda power tool to make the record look better on a quick look. IMO this is a scam... maybe not by the seller himself, but still... it's pretty damn obvious. I've heard about people doing this but never experienced it before... :(

Just return it, you will get your money back.

There are dealers that polish records with wheel grinder. You basically spin the record really fast and use a cotton ball or cloth across the surface of the 45. Not sure how they can think this isn't noticeable as it always leaves the record looking hazy. Even the best ones are distinguishable.

I read one guide to cleaning that said any rubbing, even if not mechanized, is polishing and so causes wear to the grooves. The best method is to soak and rinse without wiping the vinyl at all.
