G45 Ebay Watch

Having helped Ralph and Ken for years, they were nice enough to let me make offers on the garage 45s i did not have. i spent $6,500 for around 35 45s.
There was no Tremors in the Florida radio station load (you will have to be very very patient to find that one, as most of the copies were destroyed when the band's equipment van was stolen, then taken for a joyride before it was totaled in a crash - along with boxes of the 45s) I've only seen one copy besides George's - the one I bought in the mid 90s for myself. Matt (forum member) found one or two copies since then as he lives in Ohio.

Savoys - no on that one as well.

Sands Of Time - which title? Several groups with that moniker.

Priciest 45s I purchased were - Mint copy of Red Beard & Pirates (Gaye), mint copy of the Inner Thoughts with pic insert (Paris Tower).

Sands of Time - Red Lights is the one I'm gagging for... Ooooh I got a Red Beard & Pirates on Gaye... I like that one a lot too...

"Red Lights" is extremely rare. Very under-valued, IMO. I have a VG copy that plays ++.
Never saw one offered except for one on ebay a while back

Ralph and Ken also bought 1000s of 78s in the same load. They ended up selling them to one dealer, but the forklift that came to move the container of 78s ended up dropping the box, breaking all the 78s. Ralph said is was the loudest noise he'd ever heard.

Oooh Mike you can't be happy with a vg copy.....?? If you ever get a chance to upgrade I'll bite your fingers off you for it...Each time I listen to it my mind sees hundreds of scantily clad asian girls dancing to it with me grinning proudly at the decks.

Oooh now I have a subject I can waffle on.... I notice another late Wigan record, the Deadbeats - No second chance - Strata is not in Barry's book. I thought that would have been classed as garage punk. Is it not ???
I still love that one, it was possibly the darkest tune played at the time (1979).

Around here it's considered blue-eyed soul, not necessarily a bad thing.

Most people I know in the states prefer the flip, "Why Did Ya?" apparently so inconsequential in the UK the pirates didn't include in on the boot 7".

Speaking of The Dogs reminded that a very awful Soul Source member agreed to sell me a copy and pulled the plug on the deal minutes before I sent payment. I knew a girl like that once...

there are at least three more copies of the Tremors besides the ones listed. The Shackelfords 45 on the same label is rarer. I'd say 7-8 copies of the Tremors and 4 or 5 copies of the Shackelfords records

People overpaying for records isn't any big deal, once every few years someone else shows up and has even more money/lust than the last one. What I find annoying (as I've said before) are the people who try to throw around knowledge and make dumb statements like there are less than 10 copies of the Paragons "Abba" (this really happened on Facebook and the poster is under 30 years old).

Would take an original Bachs anyday over either of the Index LPs, but aesp the 2nd seems to be a very special album for some people, Wayne Rogers included.

Christ...even being listed as "jazz" didn't throw anyone off.

One of the very few intact 2nd Index LPs and probably the best condition. There has not been a copy offered to my recollection in a long time. Unlike a lot of people I think this is the better of the 2. The crude instros on the 1st LP don't do a lot for me (neither do the Bee Gees covers, but they are a little better to my ears).

The Rising Storm is probably $2500-$3 for a pretty nice copy.

IMO the WCPAEB LP on FIFO with cover is the top US garage-ish LP for rarity/legend, unless any more than the 2-3 copies with covers have been found. Bachs is probably #2, 2nd Index, Rationals Fan Club, Arkay IV, Rising Storm, Ones, Mystery Meat, etc
