G45 Ebay Watch

Someone got JH at a great price. Where is the logic in listing records on eBay in August - when a huge proportion of the western world is on holiday/away from their computers? If they had waited a month they would have gotten several hundred more dollars I reckon.

If you're talkin' about the John English 45 , I think this was more about that particular copy and the starting price . Although this is one of my biggest wants I wasn't sure what to expect from this copy . It didn't look good on the enlarged pictures and it didn't sound that well on the crappy auctionplayer . So I felt the risk was to big for that starting price . I don't think listing this at another time would have made a difference , how many of that huge portion of the western world would be willing to spend that kind of money on a record ?

Frisky it is haha. I'd say it's completely uneducated to go that far - a mono original of the 1st LP can be obtained for less than that... and a Levitaion should maybe cost $50-$75? :O

Wow a sharp rise since 2010 from 300 dollars to over a grand! Would like to know what triggers this. Any thoughts?

I am not sure of this but they were 1000 records pressed?

Not only is Garage going down overpaid executive-only club- Rockabilly is that way too. A Jimmy Dane Starday CP went for insane $ 2275. I saw a box of these in the late 1980's at a record show, and passed on them for 100 bucks each. Really shoulda bought a few- I think there is much to rethink, when talking NM rare 45's, especially Garage, it appeals to the new collectors who are very young, and are finding out about the old music, and they like it very much. I mean it sure beats Lady gaga, crap. I have several 20 something new collectors, (come into the store) who are way past the Zeppelin stage, and are into getting their hands on rare slabs of pure pumping fuzz & snot! :)

Good to hear. There's hope yet for the world.

If these "new collectors" are really true fans of the music (or fanatical collectors), they should spend more wisely, and concentrate pick up the $100-500 discs while they can. However, most of these "gotta have the 45 to spin on the dancefloor" are only collecting 45s which fit their narrowcast idea of '60s garage.

Agreed- especially with the "New Breed-Rockabilly-Garage" with a mixture of obscure 50's R&B tossed in. I never thought Gary Driver's Dance Me To Death, was a Garage 45, just another teen record, but I see it on Euro DJ list's as a garage spin-?

I notice that it has been since July 8th since ShakeSomeAction has been around to tally up the recent G100 ebay sales... Things okay in them parts?
