Last night while surfing through the tube I was swallowed by a wave of cool clips from Eastern European countries, mostly Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia. Maybe some of you know this stuff already, but to me all of it was completely new.
I only picked out stuff that I think is really good, so if you think differently just write a comment. And if any of you know more about the scene in those countries or the groups or whatever please let the crowd know.

First one is a teaser for this little programme here and certainly a highlight.
Get ready for SANJALICE from Yugoslavia:

Next one is not only prove that we're talking about the real thing here, but also makes a bold effort in misspelling the word "Gloria":

This one has a more typical Eastern European kind of melody. It's definitely one of my faves.
There's some lengthy talking at the beginning, but the song starts quite appropriately at 0:45 (as in you know what). The visuals are damn cool and I must confess to have a soft spot for the singer.
Here are GRUPA 220:

Back in a minute...

The next one is from Czechoslovakia. You may think it looks kind of unfitting, but I totally dig the simplicity of the setting and the casualness of style.
It was the first one I came across and it made me curious of what other obscurities might be there to be found (be assured there will be stuff that's far more hilarious).
Here are OLYMPIC:

Back to more appropriate outfits. The visuals are blurry, but the sound is sharp and driving.
PLAMENIH PET from Serbia:

This one is just plainly cool. Great Star Club-like live performance and some great action in the first row.
Let's raise a glass to the mighty MIKI VOLEK. The above Olympic seem to have been his backing band. This time outdoing everybody else in style.

Back in a minute. Just refilling the glass...

Back again with some fine clips from the Eastern European garage age.
Now, let's get ready for some really mind-bending stuff. Anyone with a joint at hand, light it now. Anyone else will think he took something even if he didn't.
Check out the most incredible instrumental break ever seen! As if they heard something new from England which absolutely had to be part of the new song. Now.
ELIPSE with "Real Man" (probably because it has some real fuzz):

You think that this was strange? It's getting even stranger. And even fuzzier!
Just watch PAVOL HAMMEL and PRúDY doing a song called "POD´ SO MNOU", and that's exactly what it sounds and looks like:

Back to people with less "experience" but equal amounts of fuzz.
CRNI BISERI on the train:

Back on the track in a minute. Stay in tune.

Okay, this is the last round of garage sounds from the nearest East.
Here are SILUETE with a fine version of "I'm A Man" at some supercool shootout with guitars:

URAGANI with an adorable fuzz intro:

And last but not least: ZLATNI AKORDI from Zagreb. Would love to hear their rendition of "My Generation" as seen on the record sleeve.

Now it's your turn. I'm sure there are people among you who know more about this scene. Let it be known.

Cheers,
Axel

I can't really add anything but I for one enjoyed it. That Elipse break sounds like they just took a part of Interstellar Overdrive and cut it into the song. Truly weird.

Personal fave!

Here is the rather cool PS
