Happy Snaps

And their last LP. Made after their return to Indonesia in about 1971-72. It's far heavier fare than their TTS&L singles and with a slightly different line up. My copy has a rather beat up cover but EX vinyl. Indra, AKL 045

I'm missing a few things by the band - another EP with songs from the second album, the Singapore/Malaysia release of the first TTL&S single and an album with a few of the original members doing the band's songs in 'Melayu' style - not very rock'n'roll, but I'd buy it if it was cheap enough

Still snap-happy here

Why is a Canadian 45 "contaminating" your US collection?
I'm certain you will be proved correct, but I can't spot the intruder, after checking back on my last 5 or 6 USA posts. Would you care to elaborate?

edit : I think I have spotted it. Those Rogues? Yes I know it's Canadian, but I was not limiting the early posts to a particular country. The post was just anything starting with "Those".

Hey Mark, what's the source of the Moods ("Rum Drunk") cut "Come On Home" on one of the "Worldbeaters"?

These US acetates are all oversized, roughly 8.5 inches in diameter. 2 or 3 absolute monsters included here. The Rondina acetate is by an unknown group, and the song titles might be "What More Can I Say" / "People Tell Me". MTM - is this the acetate you previously referred to as the "Ron-Cris acetate"?
The Seeds acetate is the alternate unreleased version, much wilder than the official release. "Want Me" is the Nightcrawlers ( on BFTG8).

These acetates are 10 inch examples. The Hallmarks is the version of "I Know Why" which appears on BFTG Volume 4, previously owned by Tim Warren. It is "Soul Shakin' Psychedelic Sally" before they added the psychedelic effects. So raw and so much better! The Ravens and Luv Wons both originally came from MTM's collection. I photographed the wrong side of the Luv Wons, the flipside "Please Don't" is the better side, even though "Summertime" is the best version of that song I've ever heard. Six Minus One "Fun And Games" was unearthed years ago by Ray Reynolds, and on the other side is the almost equally great "Other Side". I found the Young Tyrants acetate in the remains of the Fine Recording Studio, along with a few copies of the 45 and the original mastertapes with several killer alternate versions of both songs, and some unreleased cover versions.

A few years ago I was fortunate enough to have a long conversation with a gentleman who had worked in the UK Decca factory in the mid '60s. He was very proud of his work there, and related to me how meticulous and professional all the technical staff were, when it came to maintaining the quality of their pressings. Apparently they mixed their own special vinyl that was far superior to the viny used anywhere else. I certainly believe that, considering the outstanding sound quality of nearly all UK Decca pressings from the era.

I've enjoyed looking through all the scans in Happy Snaps, Mark. There have been quite a few labels which I haven't seen before, which has allowed me to make corrections to my database. All discographers and transcribers make mistakes, but some of the ones I come across are so egregious or so numerous, you can only imagine the person being on a very strong cocktail of drugs at the time. I mean, how hard can it be to copy something? It's like doing a spelling test with the answer sheet in front of you.
