Happy Snaps

Here's a shot of 4 great acetates by unknown US mid-'60s bands. The bottom right acetate with the audiodiscs sleeve has "Is It Right" on one side, and "Around And Around" on the other side. The disc with "5939" on the sleeve has "The Hunter" on one side and "Poor Man Dreamer" on the other side. The Fine Recording Studio disc is "Love Will Find A Way" / "Movin'". "Look For Me Babe" is blank on the flip.

Here are 6 more unknown 7 inch acetates from the USA.
Top left is a cool version of "I'm A Man", with a different version of the same song on each side, source ->Frantic. The United acetate is "Since You Went Away" / "Nobody's Home" originally owned by Derf. I picked up the killer unknown "I Won't Play Your Game" Audiodisc (middle left) on eBay a few years ago. Next to it is "Voodoo" / "Blue Jean Man" which I bought so long ago I forgot the seller. Bottom left is "I Need Your Love" / "My Girl Jill" (assumed titles), and next to it is another unknown Sanders acetate "When I Say" (assumed title ) / "Just A Little". The bottom two are MTM discoveries.

ha! beats me! :konfuzed::konfuzed::konfuzed::konfuzed:

It's a super-fast version, clean muted guitar with really cool dead-pan vocals and some crazy drum parts that sort of sound like bongos. It's great. One side is short and the other side is long and extended...with real quiet parts, then loud...then quiet again and it fades out...

I always record songs before I sell them but about 10 years ago my hard drive took a dump and I lost all those songs. Needless to say, I back up every few days now.

I went to the band themselves. They don't recognize this.
It's such a monster, I wonder who did it. COULD be them and they lost memory but...

I couldn't fit the whole conversation in the snapshot below, but my conclusion is that:
a) There was second band that called themselves The Moods;
b) The only recorded evidence of their existence is one copy of an acetate;
c) The song is an original written by one of the band members; and
d) Someone called Nick Solly has it.

I think I've tracked down the songwriter, and I've sent him a message. Just waiting to hear back.

Is that the Jerms' song on United?

I know nothing of the background story to that cut. It's been a long time since I spun that track, so I can't even remember if it sounded like them. There's absolutely no information given on any of the volumes as he was just churning them out for profit, but from what I know of him, he wouldn't just make something like that up, unlike some notorious compilers. Maybe you could enquire in the Ozbeat forum on FB.

Postscript: I've posted a query for you.

Do you have a direct link to this Ozbeat FB page? I cannot find it.
