There are some other Counterpart label 45s which are quite worthy of acquisition:

Fifth Order "I Was A Fool" (the rarest item on the label?)

1984 "If You Want To Know"

Dingos "You Don't Want Me"

Experimental Blues Band "50 Miles Back"

I put up the "In" label a few posts back, which was a subsidiary of W&G. Here's most of the good stuff on the mother label W&G. I divided it into 2 photos, first "garage" and then "rockers". Nearly all, if not all the groups and artists in the "rockers" pile ended up making at least one or two cool garage records in the mid '60s, but I like the early rockers and instros as well. Too bad for you if you don't.

PART 2 - sure is a lot of work fishing out each 45, placing them out and then the task of refiling them, but the joy in sharing always prevails:bucks!:

Difficult getting this array to photograph, as the cam flash was too bright despite my trying to adjust it. The red label JCP at the bottom all washed out is the vigilantes "Notice Me".

More in a day or so....

Difficult getting this array to photograph, as the cam flash was too bright despite my trying to adjust it.

To the degree possible I try & photograph items in indirect daylight. When flash glare is a problem I have found that holding the camera way up high over the items to be photographed, or alternatively off to the side so that the flash reflects off the floor / surrounding surface proves effective. Then i'll crop it in ipics or whatever its called in the Mac environment. Generally works OK with my Canon digi cam. Never taken a pic with a phone as the string mine attaches to doesn't quite go the distance required...

The Vigilantes is the best JCP 45, probably the only garage one I play repeatedly, Invaders and Sands are alright, not killers - the Frankie and Damons 45s are good for the beach/soul sound. One label where I've been able to luck into cheap copies.

The Young Souls is my most wanted New England 45, how many known copies, must be only a few?

Yes, the Fifth Order is still one of the rarest Ohio 45s, there are a few other sorta rare Counterparts but they're not garage. The Experimental Blues Band 45 was not really distributed, most of the copies around came from label or distributor stock about 15-20 years ago.

Apart from the Atlantics who had plenty of minor hits, the Australian CBS label is possibly a bit harder to find than most others of the same era. Once again I have separated the garage 45s from the rockers and instrumentals. Below the CBS lineup is the Atlantics' own post-CBS label, Ramrod.

Mark, the CBS sets are one of the most interesting posts here, because I've had/seen so few of them. I have the relatively common US issue of "War of the Worlds" which is something like 2 minutes, but I've heard a much longer version, 3 minutes+, is the CBS 45 longer - or is there a longer version on an LP?

Both the Australian CBS 45 and the Atlantics 3rd LP "The Explosive Sound Of The Atlantics" have the long 2:32 version of "War Of The World(s)". The 1:50 US Columbia release edited out about 40 seconds of mainly guitar effects from the middle of the song.

2 of the coolest looking mod-styled labels of the mid-60s, Downunder and Kommotion. A few minor titles are missing from the photos. Donna Gaye is not garage, but teen pop similar to Lesley Gore. However, her bio states that she was "16 years old and very, very beautiful with dark eyes and dark hair and a mod dresser", so she's in. Plenty of label info available here:

Perth based Clarion records were a very patchy affair. I actually had trouble scraping together a decent display of their wares, considering they had over 75 releases on 45rpm, in the mid-to-late '60s. However many of them are quite dull and wimpy. There are a few exceptions, though. There's another good article from the folks at Milesago here :
