How Unknown Can You Go?

Evangelical Brit Teenbeat! I'm a desperate man.

Flip of something I gave you years ago.

the Envoys - Nobody but Jesus (1965, home recording) The group was founded in London at a Sunday School Party. In October 1963, the Envoys took part of a "Church Rally" consisting of appearances in churches, prisons, remand homes and secular places such as coffee bars, beat clubs, dance halls and cinemas. The Envoys were Gwilym Hitchcock (lg), Geoff Shearn (rg, lv), Dave Taylor (b, bv), Alan Hitchcock (d), plus Jan Cutts and Rosemary Sutton on backing vocals.

(as I LOVE xian. I give it a plain 6)

An accounting note - I'm down for two votes for Mansson 66's "Obviously Xian" track.

Question: does the ID notation placed by someone on the forum as an identified track count toward the final result? This would be the penalty for tossing up something someone else knows / has heard before.

Example: Harvestman's "Untitled" entry = 13 total with 5 votes (3 cast, plus two ID)
yields a 2.6 mean / average
Without the penalty ID the mean = 4.3333

Hey guys, I wouldn't mind releasing a cd of the best tracks on Frantic, maybe called something like The G45 Challenge: Unknown and unreleased Garage. That's if we can get at least 20 tracks together. Only the good ones though. And maybe we can have a contest for designing the best cover, with 10 free cds as the prize or maybe Mark giving up another one of those yellow & black beauties. Just a thought. And it wouldn't even be a kickstarter, i'll pay for it..ha!

Each ID inflicts a severe penalty on the score, as can be seen in the table in the original post. Taking Harvestman Man's entry at 4.3333, he would score 4.3333x100=433 with no IDs. However with one ID for that track, he would only score 4.3333x50=216.5. With 2 IDs for the track, the score would be 4.3333x25=108.33. The more ID's, the worse it gets.

Wait a minute- at the start it was a question of how many people in the forum knew the song. It seemed even possible that a song is listed in TBM. Being listed in TBM still can mean that very few people here don't know it.
This was the basic rule:

"Can you post a link to a '60s garage mp3, which no-one on the G45Central board has ever heard before? If you can, you will be awarded points as follows:

Only 5 members have heard the tune before - 5 points
Only 4 members have heard the tune before - 10 points
Only 3 members have heard the tune before - 15 points
Only 2 members have heard the tune before - 25 points
Only 1 member has heard the tune before - 50 points
No-one has ever heard the tune before - 100 points"

Meaning that you could make points even if 5 people knew the track. There was no ID penalty.
That blocks out some of the fun.
You can't expect everyone to have acetates.
The more people contribute the more fun.
Or what exactly does the term ID mean? Does it mean that more than 5 people know the song? As far as I can see that hasn't been verified for any of the songs contributed.

Just my 2 cents...

Be careful! People have been threatened to be sent to the G45 Central Gulag for far less unbearable acoustic offenses.

Oh hell, I'm desperate too. I've got nearly nothing in terms of unknown garage in my collection.

If this would be classified as garage at all, it'd surely be on the weaker side. At any rate, it isn't American...

Surely you jest. If you submit that I'll give it minus 1 million:flush: Guys, there is nothing wrong with not having unknown songs to submit, just sit back and enjoy the ones that are submitted. Your continued desperation is embarrassing. C'mon man!!!!!!!!!:flush:

Oh brother...This is a contest not Romper Room. No training wheels allowed. To the Gulag with you.

Why not? Let people drive whatever they want. If they score low they score low, that's all. There's no need to punish anybody for just contributing something. It's not that hundreds of people are starting to post tons of crap!
The basic rules were fine. In my eyes the ID rule is principally undermining the playfulness of this game.

By the way, I have nothing against hearing very rare, un-comped entries from TBM!
