I posted this just for fun.
Basically, what tunes do you absolutely LOVE, that you could never EVER leave off of your own comp, no matter what.
I'm tossed up between 2:
Abba By The Paragons & Give Me Lovin' by The Great Scots ('cause I'm Canadian...eh..)

What are your desert island must haves? :)

Back in the old days when making 'mix' garage tapes for new friends and work collegues I always used to place The Squires 'Going All The Way' as track 1.... I used to say to them when giving them the tape,

'If you don't dig The Squires you won't 'get garage' so go and play your Brian Adams or Meatloaf CDs instead."

Action Woman - The Litter, or The Third Eye by The Dovers.

For something outside of the US, it would have to be I Want, Need, Love You by The Black Diamonds.

The Great Scots are/were fantastic, especially that first bunch of singles!

I would have to put the live recording of Johnny B. Goode by Danish beat group Sir Henry & The Butlers. Unfortunately everything they did in the studio is nothing special, but that one performance... b-toom! He might not have even understood some of what he was singing in English but it comes off so snarly it's brilliant.

I'd go for Trouble, by Music Machine.... or "There’s a flower shop" by The Paradox.. or maybe The Shaynes' From my window? but Fantastic Deejays' Fight Fire or The Stoics' Enough of what I need would be also good candidates !

A very interesting and fun group of songs guys! Thanks for posting!
I would also like to include Randy & The Radiants "My Way Of Thinking, "Daytime" by The Hedgehoppers Anonymous, & The Flippers version of "Louie Louie"(it's pretty good me thinks :) )

Hi Tom,
I've never made a comp before:) but it seems like a good idea! My problem is I don't know how to upload multiple songs to the net at once, for example, on a site like Megaupload,or Rapidshare. Any tunes I've ever sent over the net to anyone I've always sent one at a time via e-mails. Maybe someone could chime in with a suggestion or two...

Do you have the music? if so, burn a cd with those songs on it and mail it to me. I'll pay postage.

Hi Tom, I'll look to see if I have all the tunes,I think I have most if not all. I'm away in the USA for a few days but when I get back I'll burn you a CD...no problem :)

That would be super, Darren. Let me know when you havee it ready and I'll give you my mailing address. And, thanks a bunch. This could become one of my fave comps. It's hard to beat the Forum cd's of the past, though.

We did this as number 1 at our first gig. It's the perfect opener. A great song with a message I still can totally identify with.
Other indespensable songs for me would probably be:
* The Chob- We're Pretty Quick
* The Burgundy Runn- Stop!
* The Swamp Rats- No Friend Of Mine
But these have been comped too often I suppose...
