Insane Collection update

Seems like, on most rare records, any era's top of the mark fair market price will be considered a bargain if you wait 5 years. Just sucks to see flippers beat an end user to the punch only to try and immediately see profit over asking price.
That said, I'm not leaving a butcher cover in the Half Price Books dollar bin. So I'd say; gripper gonna grip.

As more want lists come in, the first batch of 53 records has yielded a second disc from someone's list, which has now been confirmed and sold.

The Pirates "Cuttin Out" (Backstage) vg+ $120

The seller is aware of this. He's quite clue-y and knows how to make the prices attractive to end buyers, but not attractive for dealers. Naturally there will be exceptions, but in general that's what you can expect.

No 70s, right? (eg: The Victims "Television addict")

I'm not sure. The collector was (is) not particularly known for his love of 70s punk, but he was around at the time. He was a big customer at White Light in 1976/77 (my punk rock import record store in Sydney). There are other factors here as well. The seller is very, very well informed on 70s punk, it's his big area of interest. And he has a circle of friends and customers who will swoop on that sort of stuff. He doesn't need g45central to easily sell 70s punk, and there wouldn't be any bargains either. So even if the unseen boxes contain a lot of 70s punk which is doubtful, it probably won't be offered here.

There is a lot of smoggy age-scum on some of the records. It is the type of scum that cleans right off, it is not hazy wax. None of the records I saw had any PVC haze, it was all harmless greasy scum.

Ah, the "Bayou Jizz" surface scum, as some of us old timers call it....we spoke of this in another thread. That is the additive which was mixed in with the vinyl prior to pressing. It helped keep the vinyl biscuits from sticking to the stampers.
Over time, heat, humidity, etc cause the additive to be released from the vinyl and eventually shows itself as the scummy jizz. Lots of 45s stored down in the southern US suffer from this deposit.

It sticks to your needle when you play em so, throw em on the VPI before your first play and you should be good to go.

Might be a good idea to limit completed sales announcements to titles that only got one request - I know I'd kick myself if I saw that I missed out on a 45 because I didn't rank my want list properly!

Get ready to start kickin'. Hopefully the ones you may get will help soothe the bruises.

Ouch! I guess that's to be expected when I'm looking for the same stuff everyone else is. I'm sure I'll still find a few gems - and that my wallet will sigh in relief at the ones that get away...

Lots more want lists have come in over the last 2 days.

A few want list 45s have been sold from the first batch. I will list them tomorrow.

In about 48 hours from now, the December 14 list will be posted.
