Might thy aural newbies tickle my eye

Couple of copies of this were recently turned up north o' here and I'm mighty happy to have procured one.

Westex , is there any chance you can put me in touch with the finder , or get me a copy of the Jolly Roger 45 ? It's been a want since I taped it at MTM's place a long time ago .

Damn...you'd think the Strawberry Alarm Clock would have been well known enough to at least receive credit. Cool trivia.

I think this was most likely recorded prior to Incense & Peppermints taking off. The flip side features Freddy singing an SAC original that doesn't appear on any of their records.

Very interesting. I know you completed the Tune In release; did the Alarm Clock back anybody else on record?

This was it, as far as I know, the connection being producer Frank Slay, who also happened to co-write Freddy Cannon's big hit, Tallahassee Lassie.

Thanks for mentioning the Tune In SAC release, it is due out at the end of October.

I have been buying 45s like a hound this year, but here are some of the ones I have picked up over the last couple of months, a few big wants have finally been had, which is always a good feeling....

I've also found some cool British 45s in charity shops... such as a VG+ Yardbirds - Certain Girl for only £4 and VG Johns Children - desdemona VG+ pic sleeve for £20.

Here is the pics...

That's interesting, Paul. I have never seen the Druids on MNO with the block style lettering. My copy has more normal lettering without the squares. However, my copy of the Hard Times on MNO is the same design as the Druids you have. I wonder which variation is the orig. press?

Mark I reckon it all depends on which came first 'Hard Times' or 'Cool, Calm and Collected', if Hard Times came first, the liklihood is mine may be a first pressing?? however I have a feeling your copy is likely a first pressing.

Aside from that lets rejoice at the fact a label does things like change labels for pressings, such a punk move!!! no modern labels would ever think of such hip things.

I dig variations on sleeves and stuff... on my own debut 7" some of the copies have a photo credit for my Dad and some don't, I wonder if collectors will ever pick up on that in 30 years?

This popped up on today's trip to Half Price Books...for a quarter. Slight warp, but still perfectly playable. As I've been into rockabilly lately, I think this is a good find.

In other news, this came today...
