NEW COMP: REVENGE '66 lim. edn (300) 60s garage LP

My explanation was bad, obviously. Pop culture, as I see it, has nothing to do with "popularity".
It is the mode of culture we live in (or more clearly maybe: we are surrounded by).

I'll repeat what pfft said:

"I'm sure you're a great guy, Axel, but this tendency to over-analyze absolutely everything is a bit annoying.
We're talking about '60s popular music here. Made only to be listened to and enjoyed. Seems like you're trying to suck all the fun out of it".

Shouldn't the bandcard portion of this thread be relocated to Mojo Cools? Relocation makes the scans easier to find / source in the future, when everyone gets tired (I know I am) of the main focus of the Revenge 66 thread!
Just managed to do this after learning how to move posts.
Now maybe i should start a new forum section called "Burnt-Out Offerings" and move this whole topic there....

PUKE.this was obviously made by Austin Powers. nice tracks though

It's depressing to me that I only know about 3 of those songs..."Last Time Around", "Searching", and "Powered By Love", which I only know of because someone found it for cheap.

I'm not very cultured, am I? :p

You're still only a teenager right? You've got plenty years ahead of you to make your discoveries.

Just to have signed up to the G45 Forum sets you apart from your peers and makes you 'cultured'....

Q: Why is it virtually impossible to find any quality garage on iTunes, Spotify or whatever. I know 100% of the people on here listen to vinyl, but I don't. I don't even listen to CD's as I don't have a sound system or anything. I got my shit spread out in 3 (three) apartment and just don't care anymore.
Can you fine compilers find a way to get your stuff accessible as mp3's for me to buy? Better still, up on Spotify which is the medium I'm currently using.

And yes, that is totally lame-ass, but don't judge me as a human with a paralyzed behind, judge me as a consumer. Who knows, you might find some new customers out there.

More crimes - if I can't find what I want on CD, I sadly download it instead of buying the vinyl release. I have mountains of releases on vinyl I can't play since I gave my record player to my dad.

My point: doesn't a lot of these releases get a little circle-jerky? It's a small scene, but come on. Don't let elitism stand in the way for mass-consumption.

I have the same problem. I have very little money to spend on vinyl, and as a result, I'll download a few select tracks from YouTube every once in a while.

Believe me, if it were practical to do so I'd listen to records for all my music - but the fact of the matter is, vinyl is less portable and is higher-maintenance than an MP3 or CD player.

Now, now, children, let's all calm down...

Yes, I see that "Mary" is the song on the Vandals 45, as I have a copy. However, I was told about this release last week from another friend, who told me that "Mary" on the comp was the version by the Electric Sensation, and not the Vandals. Since I have not heard the song directly from this comp I can't comment as to whether or not this is true.

I just had a first listen to Revenge '66 (yep, I bought it!), and I believe your friend is wrong. The "Mary" on the comp is definitely not the Electric Sensation Mary, so I assume the track list is correct (it's a ballad by the way).

Instead of Revenge, Winning Sides #3 is a fine example of how to make a great garage comp... all killers no fillers, many unheard (at least to my ears 9 of 17 tracks) (I don't care if some have appeared on "private" CD-Rs or even on HITM60s as they're in much better audio-quality here), nice cover-art DIY-style (I wonder if the DRUGS-lettering on the coverpic is intended?), scarse info that reminds me of the (good old) EVA-/Pebbles liners (but better than none), good price (only 13 € at W Völkel's Mailorder) and most of all great listing fun... (I'm not sure if I like the overall-mix without the pauses tho', as every single track would merit at least 5 seconds suspense... )

Most of the stuff on that "60s Indie Garage" CD is from "Off The Wall".

I was just about to post the ebay link... I thought one of you guys were having an actual "piss-take" styled laugh.... the truth is it really is someone taking the piss in the most serious of ways... jesus!
