Nike Commercial

Lance records is my favorite 60's favorite bad that i like. So what if i am advertising womens leather blazers here. Is it wrong to advertise here? I am not advertising any kind of adult thing so why you are restricting me to post advertise here.

Yeah, Lance records was a really great band.

I repeat: GET LOST.

Mark, if you see this, please ban this loser.

Now that's one strange statement. How does this guy come up with Lance Records? Weird...

No need for women's blazers here for sure. But can someone recommend a manufacturer of well shaped, acceptable quality Chelsea boots at a reasonable price? Mine are falling apart any moment...

Another trivial question: I bought a reissue of the Velvet Underground & Nico in mono recently. I compared it to the stereo I have, which has a fold out cover and probably is from the late 90s and I'm not really satisfied with neither. The stereo sounds badly harsh in the guitar parts and towards the end of both sides. The sound of the mono is okay but some of the mono mixes are not convincing. "Heroine" sounds perfect though...
How bout the usual reissues of the 70s and 80s. Do they sound allright? What copies of the album do you guys have? Are you satisfied with the sound?

I just realised it's because this thread is titled Nike Commercial that brought this signature spammer here.

there are some cool things happening in the current garage/psych scene's at the moment... I of course arrogantly feel I am making some of the more authentic "garage' / folk-rock based sounds around today, but there are a number of young bands making some cool music at the moment, some better than others.

Saying that, if Nike came along and offered me a bunch of money to have my song on their advert, no lie... I'd decline it.

Who? Where?

Me for example, I'm based in UK... I've even got a few wimpy type songs too.

The Allah La's (Los Angeles)

The Sufis (Nashville)

The Frowning Clouds (Australia)

The Magnetic Mind (London)

to name but a few.

I'm sure with downloads and all that kinda junk happening, I am sure we'll see and hear newer younger groups coming through the ranks any time soon, with an abundance of cool and hip influences... I have faith that there will be a band of kids, like myself who worship "Shutdown 66" comp... well, I'm kinda hoping there will be, cos each year, I'm getting older.

Geelong , Australia , is where it's happening right now . Not only do they have the Frowning Clouds , but also the Living Eyes
Must be the spirit of the late Dean Mittelhauser at work .
Who said Youth is wasted on the Young ... that was very Kool.

No exaggeration here... but I give you my word... my follow up LP 'Case Closed' will eat the band above for dinner... it's gonna be a killer album, i'm telling you!

it's gonna have snottiness, downtrodden moodiness, anger, sadness.... the plan so far is to make each of the 12 songs on it, an a-side potentially!!!!

I myself during August may be recording a couple of tracks with The Sufis in TN... then 2013 I will be doing my 2nd LP and a potential 45, whereby I wanna have a punk jangler on the a-side and a misery laden minor key effort on the flip.

then I am considering starting my own label, putting records out the old fashioned way, vinyl only, big centre hole and paper sleeves.

Yep, Belltowers rock... if I get my label idea up and running, i'd consider putting a 45 out by these guys.

Also... Flight Reaction are an awesome band.

Sounds cool!

We (The Royal Flares) also recorded an album, actually more than that, 17 songs in two days, in an old railroad building for some natural reverb. Most of it was recorded completely live, including the vocals.
The title is "Tales Of Sound & Fury" and that's pretty much what it sounds like. We're still looking for a label.
Half of the songs are covers, half are self-penned. I'm somewhat reluctant to post the originals, but I'm sure they are not far behind the covers.

Last time I posted one of the tunes, the reaction was zero. So I'm trying once again. It's hard to believe that everybody here would think it's crap.
So- what do you guys think? (the other songs on soundcloud, by the way, are just takes from rehearsal...) Please click here:

cool, I like the energy you guys have... labels are no big deal... put a 45 out yourselves, that's the way to do it... and just self-promote like mad.

I must have spent almost 200 pounds sending promo cd's all to american college radio stations, some bite whilst some don't even touch it... the d.i.y thing is fun, because when it goes well, you have a sense of pride that you've done it yourselves without some lame ass label taking you for a ride.

my set up with State Records and 13 O Clock, is an all hands on deck situation.

If The Royal Flares felt happy with two killer sides, you should definitely put it out yourself as a 45 and be happy with it for yourself, even a small run of say 300 will eventually go, if you play live shows etc... which means you have full control of artwork, release date and pretty much everything including the small amount of money which may come in to possibly fund the next 45.... you dig?

Thanks for the tips, Paul. But actually I've done self-releases with other bands before and I really hate self-promoting and stuff like that. I want to play music and nothing else. I've had other releases on small labels and I was always glad about their work. They just know better how to promote and distribute a record etc. For me it's extremely strength-sapping. That's why I really appreciate the work of labels.
Btw, what's an "all hands on deck situation"?
