Nuggets at 50

I'm fairly certain there's a slew of French-Canadian 45s missing from your collection; and I think some remarkable omissions from your NZ collection.

Nevertheless the collections are closed. They are complete to my satisfaction and I have moved on. It doesn't mean I have everything or will never find any missing items. It just means I'm not actively looking.

I can't speak to the contents of The Bunker, but as I was listening the other day I realized that there is probably a whole disc of great french-language Canadian garage that is not represented in the Wild Canada series. I'm actually a little embarrassed that it never occurred to me before. I hope my Québécois friends don't find out!

(Edited for clarity.)

Apparently, this will be a Record Store Day exclusive.

Looks like it’s a reissue of the original set, then a new 2-LP compilation of tracks slated for the proposed second volume in the series, and finally a Single LP of other tracks that fit in the genre (?).

Unfortunately, the website only lists the tracks on the original set. I’m curious if the other records will just be a mix of tracks from the box set, or if Rhino will throw a few surprises in.

Is there a legit list of what was supposed to be on Vol. 2?

Found this:

A hugely expanded version of the classic Nuggets collection – with over 100 tracks, 91 more added to the original! A mindblowing assortment of overlooked gems from the mid 60s – all represented with a great booklet of notes – essential!

And when Nuggets came out, I got letters and 45s from a guy from Long Island called Joe Dokko, who thought his group The Mystic Tide would be perfect for it – and I’m using their cut ‘Frustration’.

hope the letter ends up reprinted in the liners

zzzzzzzzzzzzzz........
And what on earth are The Koobas doing here? Good band, but completely out of place.

It's a rather schizofrenic remixed comp. Frat, novelties, mild pysch, pussy pop and punk in a weird mix.
The 4 disc reissue from 1998 was more consistant.

I'm not a fan of the non-garage tunes from the original Nuggets 2 lp set (and was glad that the cd boxed set Rhino put out loaded up on garage cuts), but the additional tunes on the new RSD lp set actually match up better with the original set's tracks (a mix of garage/punk/pop).
