Phil Spector pronounced dead

Holy crap...this must be the 1st time ever that the Boss is wrong. :yikes::boggle::tiphat:

really trying to get your point here..

what exactly are you criticising? Are you ok with those older dweebs treating him like shit from the get-go?

my point is that there's this huge spector bias that poisons every discussing of his work.

and as i pointed out, i find it sad that (like of the hoffman board) discussions on this subject have to be censored.

even the beach boys/ wilson boards have nothing to say.

I don't read it that way. He gave those 3 creepy squares what they deserved. They asked for it.

Although more than a decade later, this sort of reminds me of the interview between John Lydon and Tom Snyder on the "Tomorrow Show." I actually appreciate the fact that Phil and John didn't do the typical coloring inside the lines type interview.

Ha! Maybe the first time today.
To be fair I don't think anyone in that panel covered themselves in glory, including Spector. But the panel was openly hostile to Spector before he even made his appearance. He just reacted badly to the abuse, and misjudged at times.
I like most of Spector's stuff, but I've never been a huge fan. His massive influence on the Beach Boys and the Beatles means that he helped shape the sound of mid 60s pop music including '60s garage. He deserves huge credit for that.

Joey, I don't know how old you are, but even as a 10-year-old I knew that most of these 1960s "square" media hacks were NOT of your political tribe. They proved that in 1964 when they turned their back their back on Barry Goldwater. My favourite TV show in 1966 was the one moderated by my chosen avatar here. He was much more adept at allowing his 'counterculture' sparring partners to make fools of themselves on national TV.

SHtv has gotten so "woke" that it's broke now...."a dumping ground for Deadheads, one point of view".

The problem with the Steve Hoffman board is any interesting thread is buried with threads like "What's your favorite 3rd song on side 2 of a LP?" or another pointless Beatles thread.

...and allowing {{{Grant}}} and select "woke" Gorts to post political speech while banning any rebuttal.
Sure glad our host here has eliminated 'free-form' political rants from this more fun-oriented site.

while i share that view, i am hoping for a little bit more acitvity on this here board :D

two little bits to add to the original topic (spector):

there's a petition going on for his estate to release stuff he locked in his bunker when still alive. sounds interesting, unreleased ronettes, etc.
while i'm not compelled to take part in those petitions, i will just pass on the info to the thousands of spector maniacs on this board.

a thought that made me laugh yesterday: back in 1966 when barry and the remains played with the ronettes (and others) to support the beatles.. must have been a funny situation, like "ok guys, you'll play with the beatles"
"hey, great"
"but you'll also have to back the ronettes. you know, that wall of sound thing. you surely can do that with that guitar, bass and organ"
"yeah, sure thing"
:nope:

well, some of their threads are pretty in depth and are quite enjoyable.

Sorry, but will still add one last bit of spector. from a late interview, made me laugh so hard:

(Asked about Michael Jackson): "The most depressing, heinous thing. Starting out life as a black man and ending up as a white woman, what's that all about?"
