Psychedelic States CD's

If you are someone who wants to hear songs unfamiliar to you, and for songs not available elsewhere, grab these.
The quality of the sound varies but certainly better than heard via youtube posted clips. Unless, of course, you prefer to waste time poking around on youtube.
I submitted an acetate but Roger didn't want to clean up the sound so it didn't make the cut.
 
I will get them in due course, if only to keep my set complete. Poking around on youtube is still an invaluable way to get to know stuff though. I'm not in any trade circles; therefore along with keeping up with comps, youtube (often through FB) is one of a few essential ways for me to get to know what's out there (your channel included, MTM ;)). Oh, and G45central of course!

It's a strange comp series all together. Who is the target consumer group? It has known "classics"
in inferior sounds and lesser known cuts all mixed together.
It's really confusing.
 
I disagree completely. I suppose this depends on one's desire to hear the music. I'd rather listen to a beat up acetate that sounds tinny or murky than never get to hear a song. It'd be great if master tapes were available for every 1960's garage rock song ever recorded, but that's obviously not the scenario we're faced with. Plus, we're battling both time and lack of interest by the music buying public, two things that are severely limiting opportunities to discover more music in the genre. There are several unreleased songs on this collection, and if they sound less than stellar...who cares, really? I applaud Roger at Gear Fab for moving forward on something he'll be lucky to break even with.

Absolutely. But when you add well known cuts that are available in better sounds elsewhere, with rare/unknown cuts in lesser quality, then, I just have to wonder what the consumer target is.

It keeps getting pushed back. Initially it was going to be released early 2021 but with the pandemic and the backlog of new vinyl waiting to be pressed it was pushed further back. A few of the demos are absolutely amazing and will be well worth the wait for sure.
 
Being raised and currently living in NC, I'm really looking forward to this.
When I lived in FL, I met Roger at an Orlando record convention. He gave me a price break without my asking and seemed like a nice guy.

I have not heard of a lot of groups listed in this triple comp.

Curious though.... I noticed many North Carolina groups not included ie; Chavelles, Cykle (which he had already released separately) Dan Nix & The Teen Sounds, Tamrons, Londons, Nomads, Nova Local, Paragons, Psychotrons (and as mentioned earlier) Satyrs.

In this particular case, are omissions like this.. a result of band members being unwilling to agree?
 
Even before they went to print with West Virginia In The Turdies, I told them that the Mighty Plastic Menagerie came from
Tennessee. But who cares when you gonna sell SHIT to the populace?

No, the songs included were chosen by Ken Friedman and Vance Pollack of the Carolina Rock n’ Roll Remembered page on Facebook. Since Ken already included some of the groups you mentioned on his “Tobacco Au Go Go” comps he and Vance instead chose to focus on some of the lesser known bands many of which hadn’t been comped previously.

An accurate appraisal, thanks. Ken Friedman here. Vance Pollock and I were tickled pink to help drive this collection forward. Eighty songs! And there's more to be had, of course. Yes, we tended to not recapitulate my Tobacco A-Go-Go comps, and a small number of great songs were sidelined because of their appearance on other comps still in print. Only ONE band said "No" and that was a real shame.
