I guess this is rarer than I first thought, especially for a '70s disc, but if anyone has a copy please let me know:

Rick Kay & His Shades of Today - "You Stink" / "Red Man-White Man" on Police

Never heard of the disc you are looking for, but I have another record on Police. Any chance it could be the same label? Though I thought my Police record were just a vanity label name

Don't think there's a connection - Crash Coffin was a real band from Ohio with other releases. According to the Hound, the Rick Kay single was crafted by Cub Koda of Brownsville Station with some other musicians in that Ann Arbor, Michigan scene. Their Police label wasn't an ongoing enterprise - the single was distributed to some extant by being placed in thrift stores around the country (though I wonder if they also discarded the paper sleeve and ground the 45 between some other records for proper G+ thrift condition).

Hear both sides on various volumes of The Big Itch, along with the related 'Learn That Parrot to Talk' by the Howlin' Banana.

as someone who also was outbid on the most recent auction of this, i can attest that i knew it was rare, i just didn't think anyone cared. Police was basically an extension of Koda's 1-shot label

sold for $890!!! crazy!!! I would guessed about 100....I'm pretty sure I still have mine, time to sell it, eh?
Oh, in answer to another question, it's from Nov '75.

A total of 3 people put in 30 bids between them, one going up to $555, one up to $888 before someone jumps in with the high of $898.

So much for my bid of $90!

Hard to say what makes people bid so high for a 45 like this. Both sides are novelty numbers, really, though good ones. Never comes up for sale, but I bet there are 20-50 copies sitting in a closet somewhere.

i'd been told by someone in the brownsville camp that each of these singles was limited to 100 copies. a dozen of any of them turning up would be nice...but probably unlikely

$202 copy was graded VG and in person is more in line with VG++

Anyone have a discog of all the 1-shot titles?

I have a friend who was connected to these. I will check and see what I can post about the releases, something like 5 on One Shot and 2 on Police, including a small hole EP "Wax Donuts".
