Royal Aircoach LP/CD

I listened to the samples on site. Some interesting stuff, but probably not my cuppa. Not to derail the thread, but Sundazed seems to have been going' through changes over the past few years, expanding the scope of genres that they release. I definitely want to support their work, but I find it harder and harder to give them my money for the stuff they're releasing. That's just my own opinion, obviously. Are they under new management? I heard that Bob I. isn't involved any more. Anyone know who's steering the ship now?

I agree they’re releasing a lot of stuff I’ve never heard of before in a variety of musical styles. Recent releases have included the 8th Wonders of the World, Little Bits, Preachers, Groupies, Bushmen, Preachers and Vandals (among other garage releases). Those are all worth a purchase.

Irwin sold company several years ago. To me they just went downhill even further since then (especially in the artwork and CD packaging). Some of the "new" stuff they released is the stuff Irwin purchased or owned years before that but was reluctant to release for some reason. Now if they can finally release that 13th Floor Elevators Fresno gig they hoard for 20 years then....

The unreleased Royal Aircoach tracks were posted on 60sgarabands right?

I agree with the above. Occasionally there are some releases that I end up buying, but mostly it's a pass. And that's fine. After all, Sundazed doesn't owe me anything and frankly, if they'd continued to release the quantity and caliber of product from the early 2000s then I might very well be broke by now.

But I'm still wondering who is running it these days. Mr. Irwin was a very vocal advocate of the label and the styles of music they released. This is only speculation, but it seems like the current owners are keeping quiet to continue the illusion that the old guard is still at the helm. Or maybe it's common knowledge who is running it and I'm just ignorant.

I had no idea Bob Irwin sold Sundazed until I read it on this forum. If it was public knowledge at all, I somehow missed the announcement.

Bob sold Sundazed a few years ago. He is retired now. A friend sent me a copy of a post he made on facebook recently that addressed what transpired with Sundazed since people were asking about the change in direction of the label. The new owner is not identified but I believe they also operate other labels. Bob believes Sundazed is in good hands and needs to evolve for a successful future.

Thanks for the tip, Mike. I checked it out.

It seems a reasonable assumption that Sundazed couldn't continue to only reissue obscure '60s stuff indefinitely. The man deserves a nice retirement.

Incidentally, I found a mention of "the Yep Roc family of artists" on Sundazed's sync licensing page here:

https://sundazed.com/sync-licensing.aspx

An internet search shows that Sundazed is (or was) headquartered in the same building as Yep Roc in North Carolina. It's not conclusive, but it seems to suggest that the "other label" you mention may be Yep Roc.

Mystery solved?

Sundazed is running by a guy now who was related/was working with label before. Irwin sold it but continued to "consult" them after selling behind shadows. His somewhat bittersweet and passive agressive post on FB is probably related to the fact that current owner decided that he's have enough of his consulting. That's why probably Irwin finally made it public after years of keeping it queit.. It's funny how he never promotes Sundazed or pretend it doesn't exist when running his show Big Planet Noise online.
