Surprise, surprise - idle chatter about TBM

Our former G45 member thingstocome who passed last June ended up with a copy that looks near mint. He graciously sent it to me so that I could make a digital transfer for TeenBeat Mayhem radio, while telling me before sending that "I'm not sure you will be happy, it plays with some background hiss. Sure enough, when I made the transfer, the hiss started just before the music. It played better than my copy, but not perfect to say the least. The other 3 copies with collectors I know suffer from the same defect. Which proves the "master" used had the noise to begin witth. Likely mastered from an acetate disc, as was kinda common back then. And, depending on the condition of this 45, the lower the grade, the more prominent the defect sounds.

I did hear from Mike Stax a few years ago, asking me if I knew where a hi-grade copy of this 45 was, or if I had one. Someone planned to issue both sides on a 45 and they were on the hunt for a clean transfer. i've not heard anything since regarding the status of the project.

Reading through the awesome TBM update, I noticed a few omissions/corrections that either I didn't pass along or they got lost in the (e)mail. Anyways, submitted for your interest:
Missing Lynx (lynx) from Magee and Mendenhall, MS. Record released in Dec 1970 per newspaper story
Mods - Evil Hearted You - is NOT on Hillside LP. I believe this was part of the Fort Worth Teen Scene comps on Norton
Mods (Cee Three) - Released twice, one with 1000/1 numbering, the other as 1002/3, as seen on Discogs
Warringtons (no label) from Indian Head, MD, they were rivals of the Suburbans on Vermilion
Sugar Cube Blues Band - from Grenada, MS
Sunshine Shoppe - from Jamesport, MO
Sweet Soul Generation - possibly from Cocoa, FL as they were part of a BOTB there
Paper Cup/Tapestry Garden - Originally from New York where they first released "She Needs Love". The group relocated to Corpus Christi where they became Tapestry Garden. They re-released "She Needs Love" and recorded the other sides later
Wee and the Revelations - the band members were from Carmichaels, Masontown, Uniontown, and Palmer, all cities in PA. A majority from Carmichaels.
Zip Codes - Brattleboro, VT
Society's Children (Stein) - Bellevue, OH
Outlaw Blues - from Los Angeles, same as the Outlaw Blues Band (LPs) on Bluesway.
Odin - another 45, listed on Buckeye Beat

Outlaws (Toledo) - is incorrect, two different bands
The Outlaws from Akron recorded "Chains/the Scavenger", and they had a second 45 credited to Gary and the Outlaws
"Good Good Lovin" (James Brown) / "Gotta Get Away" (Rolling Stones). This one has no label, handwritten artist credit only. yes it's very rare with less than 5 known copies (I have one)
The Outlaws from Toledo made the records on Wanted and JRE.

Tymes Children - the only info I could find has them playing a show in Grand Forks, British Columbia. I suspect they are from Canada.
Little John and the Monks - the listed recordings on Graves are supposed to exist as a 45 on the Tork label, same as the Moguls (Tork was the name of a teen club in Eugene, it burned down BITD). While I've never seen it I was told this by two independent sources
Wicked Way (Piece) as the principals behind this label are long passed on, a couple of us local collectors played it for Mark Harkness, the guitarist in the Daze of the Week, he had no idea who it was, and said Hewitt was running a song-poem operation and probably got it from out of state. The Rod King and the Souls 45 on Piece is strange as the record also came out on their hometown label, Space, the Piece was probably some shady deal to promote it regionally or nationally.
Soundtrip (Piece) definite song poem record, the writer was from Lincoln, NE

Disciples of Sound - Evansville, IN (this was confirmed even though I didn't not update the BB info)
Caesar and the Romans (Hi Note) from Monroe, MI, they had another 45, info on BB
Beggars Opera Co (Tower) from Denver
Blue Haze with Big Z - from Sidney, OH (BB story)
Boss Breed - the band that recorded the two songs were a one shot studio recording with some different members from the Boss Breed. The BB also recorded an acetate, as did their precedent band, the Montereys. A band member made up a fake poster listing the band (on the cited acetate) as the Electric Sheep or something like that
Brave New World - I have an acetate of them doing "Train Kept A Rollin'" via the Yardbirds
Norsemen - I have a Rex recording acetate with an earlier (and better) version of "Can't You Fall In Love"

That's all I have handy for now.....
