Does anyone think that the Deejays should be classed as Swedish? Or are they better filed under the UK? Currently they are sitting in my UK boxes, but I have learned that they were stationed in Sweden, and recorded all of their 45s there.

For what its worth I file Deejays w/ Swedish bands, much as Red Squares are in the Denmark section. And if I had any Tomcats records I imagine they would be in the Spain section.

For some reason I always thought the Jackie Fountains were Swiss. But it seems they were Swedish according to various articles. Can anyone confirm?

Jackie Fountains were definitely from Sweden. A bit of trivia:: one of the members, Hans Wärmling, later moved to England and joined an early incarnation of The Stranglers called Jonny Sox (and co-wrote several of their songs).

I'm currently compiling European 45s for some kind of scientific research project that I'm planning for the near future. At G45central, we do scientific research projects behind the scenes sometimes for humanitarian purposes. This one is out in the open for now, and I'd welcome your help.

I have access to a good collection of Swedish '60s garage 45s, but it is by no means complete, and I am by no means an authority on the subject. I know some of you have deeper knowledge, and I'd appreciate any help you care to offer. The results of the scientific research project could be substantially more accurate and exciting with the inclusion of recommendations for Swedish '60s garage 45s that are missing from my list.

So here's the basis for the project as it stands. I will supply a complete alphabetical list of all the Swedish 45s I have on hand at the end, to make it easy for anyone inclined to offer their help or suggestions.

There's also the possibility that I will have included a few 45s that are not actually from Sweden. I'm no expert, and I used various unreliable sources to ascertain the country of origin, some no doubt in error.

It's a fantastic discography of I would say 99,5% of all swedish 1954-1969 releases. Complete discographies for pretty much all swedish groups, with scans of all 45's (in b&w, but still). It's written in swedish, but the discographies and pictures are worth the second-hand price alone ($150-$200, it's long out of print). It has got a rating system for each record, but it's based on rarity/demand (nowadays wildly out-of-date!), not musical quality or "teenbeat-ness".

It looks great, thank you for scanning it. I will look out for a copy on Amazon and eBay. I will probably still need forum-style help in the meanwhile, because I won't be able to read the text of the book, and I'm sure that many of the entries will be actually "pop" and not teenbeat or garage.

I currently have an opportunity to acquire a small batch of quite good Swedish 45s, if the deal comes off, hopefully.
